NOTD 46 – Independence Day

This weeks mani’s theme is in honor of Wednesdays Holiday, Independence Day. I used “Julep – Glenn”for my red,  “Milani – White”, “Essie – Aruba Blue”. I did a needle dragging technique that I first saw on Nicole’s website “Polish me, Please” If you have never heard of it or want some instructions, (either way) you should check out her site because it’s pretty Awesome! She had mentioned that if you do not chose the right polishes, it tends to look a little more like marbling, which my right hand does. 😦 I still love the way it came out though, I think it makes it more fun that some look like needle dragging and others kind of like marbling.

Here is my right hand, all but the pinky came out more like the needle dragging. the pinky and my whole right hand look like a cross between needle dragging and marbling.

And here is the right:

Well there you have it, my Patriotic Mani for the 4th. What are you wearing on your nails today?

  1. I think these turned out very cool! They look tie-dyed!! I bet if you try needle dragging again sometime they’ll turn out perfect. I bet it was kinda hard to do three colors, you had to work fast! Haha. It’s hard enough for me applying the base color and one color on top, and I’m guessing you did the base (white?) and then the two other colors really fast and needle dragged it. I’d like to try a three color design like this sometime but it sounds super tricky! These are perfect for the fourth! Good job. 🙂

    • Thanks!! I actually did stripes. I did the red, then the white then the blue, the red was actually a more fast drying so by the time I was done the “quick” three thick coats i had to do another thin layer just to wet it again.. sigh. and then did needle dragging. I looked up a couple different ways to do it once I saw yours to see if I could use the three colors and that is how they suggested doing it for the three. I dont know if you could do 4 I guess you could. but with pinkys it might be kind of hard doing the stripes that way. unless you had wider finger nails. hmm id have to try it. I really do hope that the next time I do it it comes out perfect! 🙂 lol I will choose more slower drying ones too I didnt realise the Julep dried so quick 😦

  2. Wow, that’s amazing. My attempt at “patriotic polish” failed miserably and all I did was paint my nails blue with an accent finger in red! I think the blue just wasn’t right or something. I have to say that you are definitely the best when it comes to fun nails!
