NOTD 57 – FAIL

Hey guys, It feels like forever since I have posted last… I broke three nails so I cut them all short, short, short, I am starting over. Right now they are painted with “Essie’s Vermillionaire” and “Zoya – Charisma” on the ring finger again as I attempted the Herringbone look… UNsucessfully… I have to bathe both of my monstrous puppers this weekend so hopefully if I can get to that in tonight, I will paint tomorrow. I am going to bravely attempt some more stamping while they are short.. ::sigh::

Please ignore the chips, already in the Zoya as you will notice, they got all jacked up from my Herringbone attempt..

So I check my email and received not 1, 2, but FIVE email notifications letting me know that this one polish I have been longing for is back in stock… I am assuming I very much wanted it, since I so absent-mindedly clicked “email me when in stock” 5 times… haha! It’s called “Vermelho Surreal by Jade”, it’s a beautiful Red holographic, I also ended up getting “Energy” which is greenish blue “Jade holo”, also in todays purchase. lol

That is all for this quick post. Hope everyone is enjoying their friday, have a fun weekend! I will be back soon! 🙂

Day 30 Inspired by a Tutorial – 31Challenge

Good Morning Lovelies 😀 As for all the days of the challenges, I research to find the funnest designs to use for each days of the challenge. As soon as I am done the first day’s mani I am already thinking for the next couple of days what can I do fun for the next days challenge; this day was no different. I searched on google “Nails Inspired by a Tutorial” and came across a Splatter Mani Tutorial. How Fun! I Haven’t done that yet!! I found this on The PolishAholic’s Blog.

For this challenge, I used “Julep – Kelly”  for a base, “Orly – Lucky Duck” and “Essie – Vermillionaire” for the splatters. I followed The PolishAholic’s Tutorial that was super easy to follow, Fabulous! and can be found here.

I painted by base coat, which unfortunately requires two coats, I have found that the Juleps don’t dry as quickly, which is why I say unfortunately. I then took my green and orange and made about two drops of each onto a paper plate. Per the tutorial I used my straw and blew into the opposite end to make the splatters.

I absolutely love this mani and how cute it came out. It was to great to have come across such an easy tutorial to follow 😀

Here are my pics below:

So on a side note / rant… I was kind of upset at how some came out, I loved my thumbs the best how there were little tiny splatters. I liked the little splatters the best; but then I thought about it, and if you splattered paint on the ground the “real” way with a paint brush, you are going to get those big splatters too. I came to love the rest of the nails 😀 Hope you enjoy them too!

Day 29 Supernatural – 31Challenge

The Challenge is almost over! 😦 I have to wonder, will I lose inspiration after this, not having defined for me what to do each day… I sure hope not 😛

I did some searching around, to see what others did for their Supernatural Day. I saw some Vampires, Werewolves, Ghosts.. and I that got me thinking… I didn’t want to do just any old ghost. So I did Zero and Oogie Boogie from one of my favorite movies, “The Nightmare Before Christmas”. Now in some arguments Oogie could be a stretch, but I think he’s kind of a ghost in a sense, he’s somewhat Supernatural so he fits, if not, I am bending the rules 😀

For Oogies coloring, I went for more of the Glow in the Dark Oogie Green, for when he glows in the dark in the movie, and I used a mixture of “Milani NEON – Fresh Teal”, “Julep – Sophia”, “Milani – White” and “Orly – Lucky Duck” and then “Sinful Colors – Blackest Black”

for Zero I used “Milani – White”, “Sinful Colors – Blackest Black”, “E.l.f. – Medium Red” for his collar, and “Essie – Vermillionaire” for his Pumpkin nose.

The base color for all of the nails is “OPI – Planks A Lot”

Day 27 Artwork – 31Challenge

My favorite painting is Starry Night, by Vincent van Gogh. My husband found a company online, that re-creates original paintings, and he got me this painting for my Birthday a few years ago. It came rolled up on the canvas and we went to get it framed to match the bedroom, this hangs above my vanity 😀

So naturally, I just had to use this as my Artwork Inspiration:

So again, keep in mind I am no artist, again referring back to DrawSomething… My right hand was a dud, so I am not even bothering with pictures of that, however I did not think that my left hand came out too bad, see what you think 😀 I only did accent fingers for this look.

The polishes that I chose were, “Essie – Aruba Blue”, “nail-aid peeling nail base coat”, “Essie – Vermillionaire”, “Ulta – Cream of the Crop”, “Sinful Colors – Blackest Black”, “Milani – White”, and “Seche Vite’ Top Coat”

Makeup.com Blog Feature

Friday Night, Kristen Oldham Giordani an L.A. based beauty editor and writer for Makeup.com, contacted me and wanted to feature my Blog and this look for her weekly column there!

I am so happy and honored that she liked my look enough to want to share it with more people from their website and her column. I have created a link to the article here.

Thank you so much Kristen!

Here is another peek at that days Challenge for those of you that missed it 🙂

Inspiration from a Song: This challenge was so fun, to try to think of different songs for inspiration, I love music, all different genres from all different eras. 🙂 My inspiration was “Neon Trees – Animal”  and the look is Neon Animal print.

The polishes I chose for this were: “China Glaze – Pink Voltage (neon)” and “Zoya – Charisma” for me left hand with “Sinful Colors – Blackest Black”. My Right hand was “OPI – Fly (Nicki Minaj collection)” with “Essie – Vermillionaire” and “Blackest Black” I used “nail-aid – Peeling Nail” as a base and then white as a wonderful tip from  Nicole 🙂 I also am now a “Seche Vite addict” I bought a sample of this at Image Beauty last week and it is amazing! It dries so fast! Way faster than the drying drops!!

Can I just say, before I show you the polishes, and the final look how hard it was to try to capture the neon and brightness of these colors!! 😦 They are much brighter in person.

And here are a few different views of the finished look 🙂

Day 23 Inspired by a Movie – 31Challenge

I would like to start by saying,  Again, that I am in LOVE with Seche Vite’! When I did my Drying Drops articles and posts, many bloggers recommended it, but I just couldn’t see spending the money on a new top coat yet when I had just purchased the drops. Last week, I gave in, they had little minis at the Register of Image Beauty.  When I tell you this top coat dries in SECONDS I mean seconds! I tried it on the neon the other day and thought that maybe it was just because neon dries quickly anyway. After doing these nail arts and anyone that has worked with black polish can tell you how it bleeds or drags when you do top coat, I did not even wait for it to dry, put the top coat and WHAM Dry! wootz!

Anyway, onto the look, here we go 🙂 I am certainly no artist, if you play Draw Something with me you will know I draw stick figures 🙂

Here is a closer look of the nails:

And here is my inspiration:

The Polishes that I used were, “nail-aid Peeling Nails” as the base for all, Some of the nails were “Revlon – Coastal Surf” as base, one was “Elf – Medium Red” and “Spoiled Wet N Wild – Designated Driver” and “Julep – Kelly” The remaining colors were used for the art including some of the ones already listed “Elf – Light Red” , “Sally Hanson – Purple Pulse” “Julep – Oscar” “Milani – white”, “Essie – Vermillionaire”, “OPI – Planks A lot”, “Zoya – Shawn” , “Sinful Colors – Happy Ending”, “Ulta – Concrete Evidence”, “OPI – Fly”, Sinful Colors – Blackest Black”
