The Lacquer Ring – Stars

It’s Lacquer Ring time again!

First, I will tell you about my carpet debacle this weekend… So my brother in law and his fiance’ are coming home for Christmas. She has never seen my collection and most people who haven’t seen it are intrigued, and of course I’m proud of it. lol  So I have some minor spills on the carpet around my polish shelf (in the closet of the guest bedroom) So I took it upon myself to try to clean it off so the house would look nice for them.  Well after about a bottle of nail polish remover later, the stains are still there… and the whole upstairs smelled so bad that if you lit a match you might blow up. It was god awful!!! I shampooed the rug 3x nothing was making this smell better, I dumped baking soda directly on the carpet hoping to absorb some of the smell, nada.  Eventually almost 4 days later the smell is gone, but if you sit on the floor you can still smell it when you are closer to the carpet…  smh

I have been totally neglecting my nails as I have been spackling, painting, cleaning, the whole nine yards in order to prepare for our family coming for Christmas. Winter of course is about THE worst time to do that so naturally my hands are so dry. 😦 I also have not been keeping up with my Nail Envy as I have only been painting my nails for TLR’s so I had my pinky and pointer finger on my ‘model hand’ break and my thumb on the other hand! Tragedy!!

Alright, well enough about my craziness, because I am sure we are all going through this, it is after all the Holidays!

Lesley as you know chose this month’s prompt, She chose ‘Magenta-ish’ nails for our color theme and now the theme is Stars.  I have this awesome Star stamp on one of my 80’s MoYou Stamps that I just knew I had to use!

I started out with Philly Loves Lacquer’s Hope is an Option. I then used ILNP’s Metropolis flakie with two coats. I stamped using Essie’s Nothing Else Metals.

I did a plan on ‘star’ for my pinky. Per my last TLR I said I had to to Hello Kitty themed nails in some way as Lesley and I both share our obsession for Hello Kitty. I have a giant plate of all kinds of HK Stamps and on there is a Lady Gaga Hello Kitty. Of course Lesley loves her to, so Win!  I stamped this using Zoya’s Savita

What do you think?  How crazy are you right now preparing for the Holidays?

Before you go, don’t forget to check out the other Star Manis 😉

NOTD 178 – Featured Color Friday – Indie Hello Kitty

Woohoo It’s finally Friday! I feel like I am so behind this year, I have no decorations up, nothing wrapped, still a few people to buy for, etc. I am usually way more prepared by now. I think it’s that Thanksgiving was so much later, it’s totally throwing me off. I have been working on Saturdays for OT, this Sunday I have a party to go to, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday of next week I have things going on, along with Doctors, etc. mixed in to that, it’s just insane!

Anyway, enough about my crazy schedule and lack of preperation this year, on to this beautiful ILNP pretty that I have been telling you all so much about lately. This is Indie Go by I Love Nail Polish. It’s a gorgeous blue holo with mixed in blue sparkles and subtle color change.

This picture is a little blurry but you can just see the amazing holo/sparkle and slight color change! 🙂

I then stamped my Ice skating Hello Kitty and I took my Milani nail art bottles and filled in some of the stamp. I colored in her headband and scarf pink and added glitter to her skates and her headband for some sparkly detail. 🙂

NOTD 167 – Happy Halloween

happy-halloween

Well guys, I am back. My life has been extremely hectic the last few months as you might have seen in my last post, but so long as things continue to slowly, slow down I will be posting more often again! 🙂

This Saturday we are having some family members over for a Halloween Party so this week I have been running around with last-minute preparations and cleaning. In my last post you saw my first Halloween nails and today I have two more for you.

This first look /polish was a gift from my amazing friend Amy over at The Fancy Side, it was my first Cirque ever! I give you ‘Cirque – Sanguine’ I stamped some leafs overtop using ‘Sally Hansen – Forbidden Fudge’

These are my Halloween nails. I got this awesome Hello Kitty stamping plate a while back and it has so many cute Hello Kittys. I first painted my nails using ‘China Glaze – Liquid Leather’ then stamped Jason/Hello Kitty using ‘Ulta – Snow White’, yes that is right, Hello Kitty in Jason garb, see for yourself!

NOTD 116 – Hello Kitty

It’s Monday again already.. I swear each weekend just blinks by.

This weekends mani was inspired by some amazing yard art that a friend made for me. She made me this adorable Hello Kitty Flyers fan, and I just ordered a Hello Kitty Easter one too!

I used “Nail Envy”, and then two coats of “Julep – Emma”, once dry I used stamping plate “KD18” with “Orly” what I call Barbie pink. This Orly is so old it’s from when my mom did nails 10+ years ago. I know that some people believe you should throw them out, but why should I, it works and doesn’t stink and hasn’t hardened. Anyway I used the Barbie pink for the stamp and made some polka dots.

On another note, my little sister is pregnant and is due in about three weeks with a little boy. I don’t think she is going to make it to her due date, either way I will do some special baby boy nails just for her and my new little Godson very shortly. ❤

Sally Hansen Magnetic Nail Color Review – NOTD 50

For those of you that read my Influenster Vox Box Post yesterday, you saw that I was a lucky Influenster and got picked to receive the Summer 2012 box. In it, I received some awesome products that I just cannot wait to try, but of course the nail polish came first. I got “Sally Hansen’s Magnetic Nail Color in Graphite Gravity”. I have used Layla’s Magneffect product before so I will be comparing it to that a bit and giving you my honest opinion

*Disclaimer: this product was given to me review however the opinions are solely my own.

As with the other Polish brands that have done the Magnetic lines, it comes in many colors, “Golden Conduct, Polar Purple, Silver Elements, Kinetic Copper, Red-y Response, Ionic Indigo, Electric Emerald, and Graphite Gravity”

I also received one of my stamping plates (Hello Kitty) in the mail, that I had ordered last week from Amazon. So I decided to incorporate that also into this look/post.

So, as I said I have tried the Layla Magneffect nail polish and one of the things I liked about the Sally Hansen one was, that the directions differed. The Sally Hansen one wants you to paint a thin coat of polish on all ten nails (or in my case, 8) and let it dry. Then paint a thicker coat one by one, and hold the cap with the magnetic strip over your finger (there is even a little guide for your finger) for 10 seconds and voila you have your magnetic design.

The formula was thick which was to be expected but certainly not a downer, not hard to work with at all, I didn’t think. I liked that it instructed you paint that thin coat first as with the Layla (unless I did it wrong) when you held the magnet cap over the polish, it tended to pull the polish so much to make the design that it looked like you didn’t have polish on in some spots. With the Sally Hansen one I did not have that at all. 😀

Another pleasant surprise was, that the bottle was like a darkish silver color, I thought that when I held the magnet that the design would be white, I was pleased to see that it actually turned black and pulled the silver to make the design. I liked the polish much better that way. There is another color however that looks like it is silver with the whitish design if that is more your style.

I would for sure, purchase this in other colors, especially for the price, it was a great product, was easy to work with, so long as you don’t accidentally hold the magnet too close that it hits the strip and you get a chip. :/ but that is with any polish or magnetic polish.

I painted “Sonia Kashuk’s – Dream of Genie” on my ring fingers for accent. I used “Sinful Colors Blackest Black” for the Hello Kitty Nail Stamp.
