Julep Penny Sale!

Over at Julep, they are doing another Penny Sale. If you go to JulepMaven.com, create your Beauty Profile, and then in the shopping Cart type in code “COLOR12” your price will go from 19.99 to one penny! I do not know how long this Sale is lasting, so act quick 😀

I had Julep for a while but was disappointed that they sent a few dupes. Apparently you can go in your “My Account” and see what is coming before it ships, and change it up ahead of time, but I wasn’t even getting emails reminding me to do this, who has the time to remember to do that?!

So needless to say, I was drawn in again by the Penny. My first Julep Box was a Penny and I did another two boxes after that at the 19.99 In total. I received a thing of Aragon oil, cuticle oil, which I LOVE, Hand Brightener lotion, Hand Scrub, two nail files, a base coat, and a total of 8 polishes (one of which was the dupe that I gave to a friend for her birthday 😀 )

Day 10 Gradient – 31Challenge

Let me start by saying that this is my first Gradient look, let me then continue by saying how difficult I felt this was for me, so I hope I did alright hope you like it!

I originally tried with a dark blue and a light sparkle and was unsuccessful… ugh..  I felt it just wasn’t gradient enough. I then looked up tips to complete this look and someone suggested a make up sponge… ugh x2.. that also did not work for me. I’m not sure if it was the polish combinations I was choosing, the make up sponge, or just that it was the first time I was trying this look… but it was exhausting.

Finally, what I ended up choosing was a lighter color and a sparkle. After the sponge attempt I decided to do some research and came across a tutorial Click here  where the girl used a light color and chose a pink sparkle. She painted 25% of her nail, then 50%, then 75% so that each time the look would be darker as you went down due to the varying coats of polish on the finger. That worked! Here’s how it came out:

This was my final attempt as soon as I was done, I supposed I was pleased enough. Now I am determined to master it, so keep checking back after this challenge as I will attempting it again!

The polishes I ended up using were”Julep – Kelly” for the base, then “OPI- Katy Perry’s Collection – Last Friday Night” as my Gradient effect.

Here is another look at the next day and finished product.

I Hope you enjoyed my day # 10 of the 31 Nail Challenge , and I’m interested to hear what your thoughts are on the Gradient look?

My March Julep Box

So my March Julep box came and I’m late posting it, sorry!  It came on Thursday. This month I received:

  • Julep Elixir Organic Moroccan Argan Oil is legendary for its healing, conditioning, and anti-aging properties. Use it daily to hydrate and nourish skin, smooth split ends, and soften cuticles. Easily absorbed and lightweight, this powerhouse organic oil is gentle enough for all skin types (including acne-prone). Spring is the perfect time to revitalize your hair and give your skin a youthful, dewy glow from head to toe.
  • Emma Julep Nail Vernis – soft and feminine seashell pink shimmer, so elegant alone or for extra shine over any shade.
  • Kelly Julep Nail Vernis – a blushed white creme, the newest shade in runway neutrals for spring.

As a reminder, Julep is another monthly mystery beauty product delivery. At their website you fill out a Beauty Profile, and each month for $19.99 you get 2-3 polishes and a product that they feel fits your profile. You get a notification about 5 days before it is going to ship if you want to change your box for that month. The nail polishes usually retail for $14. a piece.

So my question for you is:  What Beauty related subscriptions do/have you participated in and do/did you enjoy them?

NOTD 15- Julep – Glenn

This is a swatch of Glenn the other “Julep” polish that I received in my last box. I decided to paint it on my toes as I wasn’t ready to take off the blue from the 31 Day Challenge off my nails.

My First Julep Box

I first learned about Julep Here from a fellow blogger friend. She posted about getting Julep for $1 and I just could not pass it up, I ordered right away!

My box came and thanks to Natasha, it was only $1 this month! Normally it’s $19.99. This month I got “Oscar” which is the gold shown, that I also used when I did my day 5 challenge (see that post) 🙂 and then the red is called “Glenn” and a “Julep – Essential Cuticle Oil” that strengthens nails and softens rough cuticles.

Here are some of the benefits to Julep. let me know what you think if you try it out!

Day 5 Blue – 31Challenge

For Day 5 of the Challenge , I used my “OPI Start to Finish Base and Top coat”, My new “China Glaze – Sexy in the City”, my new “Julep – Oscar” and of course my trusty “Nicole by OPI – Drying Drops”

I started off with one coat of the “China Glaze – Sexy in the City” and one Coat of the “Julep – Oscar” on my ring finger

It didn’t need it, but I painted 3 coats of the blue to be sure that when I painted my design over the glitter it would be dark enough. I also ended up with 2 coats of the gold, again not sure that it really needed it.

I had some address labels I just started cutting triangles and funky designs on, i attached them to my finger nail and painted 3 coats over top the gold and peeled off to let dry.. sloowwwwly.

For whatever reason on both of my ring fingers I felt there was a part with too much Gold showing so I just added a couple of dots. 🙂

And here is my finished product for Day 5 of the Nail Challenge, Blue. Hope you enjoyed!
