NOTD 127 – Caribbean Temptation

My mom and I went to the store yesterday but before hand, I wanted to go get a Pedicure. We went to a place that neither of us were familiar with but it was the only one open at 10A on Sunday. We go in and sit right down. The girl took about an hour and 15 minutes just on my Pedicure. Now my feet aren’t gnarly if that is what you are thinking, I usually take care of my own feet but wanted to have someone else do it for once… lol no, this girl was just verrrry slow. I had already decided well before the length of time that it took for my pedicure, that I was going to also get a manicure. I just wanted to have someone else clean my nails up for a change. Anyway, when all was said and done, we were there almost two hours…….. o..m..g.. Another reason why I always do my own.

Anyone that knows me, knows I don’t match my nails to my outfits, and I don’t usually match my toes to my nails, but this time I decided to do that. I will just end up changing my nails in a few days, so they wont match anyway… lol I usually end up keeping my toe polish on for close to two weeks before changing that.

The color I went for was “China Glaze – Caribbean Temptation” This color reminds me a lot of “OPI’s – Pompeii Purple”.

So note to self, continue to just do own nails and toes… ::sigh::

NOTD 70 – @NinjaPolish Alexandrite @Polish_Ninja

I am so excited today I cannot even begin to express how much!! It’s the little things in life.. lol

First, I have some swatches of the GORGEOUS “Alexandrite by Ninja Polish” that I had posted about last week here.  and the second excitement is an amazing lighting setting on my camera that I learned about today, that makes things wonderful (some of you can benefit from this, some can’t, some have way better pictures than me already, so you must have known! ) But, can I just take a moment to first say how awesome Rhonni from NinjaPolish is. Someone had told me about her website when I was trying to find a hard to find polish. I then saw that she has a blog too and I was instantly hooked. I also followed her on twitter and was so excited when I tweeted that I ordered from her and she tweeted me back. She is super friendly, has amazing products, and ships crazy fast!

Okay, on to what I learned today… So, I painted my nails last night and like any other amazing color changing, neon, holo, etc. I could not capture its beauty! (you know what I am talking about ladies well some people can, but I have seen many a complaint about having this same issue and this color unfortunately was no exception) I took some pictures in the bathroom lighting, kitchen lighting, morning sun, dark with flash. No matter what I did, the color looked either green or navy never all three colors like I see in person. Today on my camera, I messed with the settings and one of the lighting settings is “Flourescent H – For shooting in daylight flourescent lighting” perfect! I took some more shots with this setting today and what a difference, this is for sure as close as I am going to get on a camera for these harder to capture polishes!

Now on to the polish, just as I thought I would, I LOVED this color. The website says: “The Alexandrite gemstone is known as the ‘Emerald by day and Ruby by night’ due to how it shifts its coloration based on surrounding lighting. However if you have seen an Alexandrite the ‘ruby’ shift color is often a magenta with flints or purple. The green to purple shift of this polish can only be represented by this captivating gemstone. This polish is ideal over dark colors, especially a dark purple and shows truest over black”

I put 2 thin coats of “Alexandrite” over 2 thin coats of “OPI – Russian Navy”. I really loved how the navy poked through the shimmer of ever-changing purples and greens. Oh – Em – Gee!! Since I am so excited about this mani and my newly found setting on my camera, there are many pictures 😀

So, what do you think of this fabulous color, are you in love with it like me, or is not for you? What do you currently have on your nails?

NOTD 56 – Sorbet

So the past few days here in NJ, especially this weekend its been very hot and humid, so last night we had a crazy storm and it was pouring so loudly, was just insane. The dogs didn’t want to go potty so we were just waiting for a few minutes to see if it would die down so that they could before bed. I went out on the front porch to check on my plants (only one casualty, one of my tomato plants 😦 ) Anyway, I come back inside to see my two dogs running from room to room chasing something, wtf. I see a flying thing on the fireplace. My fireplace wall is odd-shaped stones so “it” was perched on one of the stones. It’s dark, I’m tired, Don was already upstairs checking on something, I start screaming that there is a bat on the fireplace. Now in my defense, we do have a lot of bats in our area and it was very dark… He comes downstairs and puts the children in our bedroom while we try to deal with this now, situation.. ugh. So he gets a flashlight and shines the light on the fireplace, and to our surprise, and my relief it’s just a bird, not a bat. He then starts flying from the kitchen to the living room, and back again, he ended up in the Dining room and the media room, back to the living room, only to perch on the stones again and poop on my mantle. We finally got him to the living room, opened the door and held up blankets for walls so he could not fly past us again and go out the door(2nd of this attempt worked) lol. Only me…

So after talking about it this morning, we think that the bird must have been hiding out in my door wreath and when I went on the porch real quick he flew in the house. I didn’t see him because he flew above my head and it was pouring so loudly I didn’t hear him either… Smh

In any event, my boring nails today needed that crazy story!

I painted “Zoya – Charisma” on my ring fingers as an accent and “Sally Hanson – Mint Sorbet” on the rest. 🙂
