The Lacquer Ring – Teal

It’s finally Thursday! This week feels like it has just drug on so badly. Perhaps it’s partly from me working through lunch the last few days being completely and utterly beyond swamped. 😦 Just because it’s Thursday that doesn’t mean that the swamp-ness has gotten better just that it’s almost over and time for a break 😉

With that being said, I had totally forgotten that today was our bi-weekly post and almost wasn’t able to participate. I decided that I would at least do a quick 4 finger mani because I couldn’t be late again 😦 lol  This month is Amy’s pick and for her color she chose Teal.

I have so many teals to choose from however one sticks out as my favorite and was a quick dry, so win-win.  I painted one coat of OPI’s Fly just to have some undies and then one thick coat of Shimmer’s Strength. This teal beauty can either be worn with undies or on it’s own. Stand alone takes about 2-3 coats or just a few thick ones to become opaque. With the undies this was just one coat of Strength.

So what do you think Super glittery right, how can you go wrong!

What’s your favorite teal, or perhaps if not a teal what is your favorite go-to color?

HMOTD 9 – Jack and Sally

Happy Halloween everyone!

I’m back! We are safe, thankfully Hurricane Sandy didn’t do too much damage to my area. My work however does not have power so we have been off since Monday. Tomorrow even with no power we are being asked to go in and they have the back up generators, so this should be fun!.. In any event I am disappointed that I didn’t get to do as many Halloween Mani’s as I originally anticipated. Our Halloween party was Saturday just before the storm (pics to come) so I didn’t do my nails all week, I was cleaning and preparing. So finally with having some time off I tried to catch up on about a week and a halfs worth of TV and blogs lol, and today finally got around to my nails ( Due to all of the cleaning, please ignore my nubs, they got destroyed this last week.) 😦

I saved The Nightmare Before Christmas nails for last. I used “China Glaze – Liquid Leather” and white striping tape for Jack’s suit nails, and for Sally’s dress nails, “e.l.f. – pink purple”, “China Glaze – liquid leather” “OPI – Fly”, ” Spoiled Wt N’ Wild – Don’t Be Cheesy”

So what do you think of my final Halloween nails? If you are dressing up, what costume did you choose this year?

NOTD – 75 fail

Whomp Whomp! Sundays suck because Mondays soon follow and let’s face it Mondays suck! so does this mani. It’s certainly not my worst mani I just , I don’t know if it’s the colors, or that each nail is different, I just really dislike it. The blue is “Nina Pro – Cobalt” and overtop “OPI – Did it on em’ ” it isn’t as cobalt, more of a navy so that was another thing I didn’t like. Good news is though, tomorrow is October 1st so ,1 days till Halloween, my favorite time of the year, and the first day of a whole month of Halloween manis! I am not going to do one every day just as often as I normally do them, but whole month will be Halloween related in some way 😀

So here is only one pic of the mani. Let me know what you think

NOTD 66 – Teal Ribbon Month

Cynthia and Tara inspired me to do these Teal Ribbon nails and of course Nicole as they are seran wrap nails. The month of September I knew already as Ovarian Cancer but it was only recently that I learned that the Teal Ribbon along with the month of September is PCOS and Gynecological Cancer Awareness month. I was diagnosed with PCOS in 2003, my mother, sister and grandmother also were diagnosed soon after. My mother has had gynecological Cancers so the Teal Ribbon is very important to me, now that I know they have designated Teal as all gynecological and PCOS Ribbon color as well.

My nails are made with the seran wrap effect with”OPI – Did it on em”, “OPI – Fly” and “Milani White”.  I don’t know how I feel about this effect just yet, think it needs some practice for sure. Then I did by hand some teal ribbons using “Fly”

Makeup.com Blog Feature

Friday Night, Kristen Oldham Giordani an L.A. based beauty editor and writer for Makeup.com, contacted me and wanted to feature my Blog and this look for her weekly column there!

I am so happy and honored that she liked my look enough to want to share it with more people from their website and her column. I have created a link to the article here.

Thank you so much Kristen!

Here is another peek at that days Challenge for those of you that missed it 🙂

Inspiration from a Song: This challenge was so fun, to try to think of different songs for inspiration, I love music, all different genres from all different eras. 🙂 My inspiration was “Neon Trees – Animal”  and the look is Neon Animal print.

The polishes I chose for this were: “China Glaze – Pink Voltage (neon)” and “Zoya – Charisma” for me left hand with “Sinful Colors – Blackest Black”. My Right hand was “OPI – Fly (Nicki Minaj collection)” with “Essie – Vermillionaire” and “Blackest Black” I used “nail-aid – Peeling Nail” as a base and then white as a wonderful tip from  Nicole 🙂 I also am now a “Seche Vite addict” I bought a sample of this at Image Beauty last week and it is amazing! It dries so fast! Way faster than the drying drops!!

Can I just say, before I show you the polishes, and the final look how hard it was to try to capture the neon and brightness of these colors!! 😦 They are much brighter in person.

And here are a few different views of the finished look 🙂

Day 23 Inspired by a Movie – 31Challenge

I would like to start by saying,  Again, that I am in LOVE with Seche Vite’! When I did my Drying Drops articles and posts, many bloggers recommended it, but I just couldn’t see spending the money on a new top coat yet when I had just purchased the drops. Last week, I gave in, they had little minis at the Register of Image Beauty.  When I tell you this top coat dries in SECONDS I mean seconds! I tried it on the neon the other day and thought that maybe it was just because neon dries quickly anyway. After doing these nail arts and anyone that has worked with black polish can tell you how it bleeds or drags when you do top coat, I did not even wait for it to dry, put the top coat and WHAM Dry! wootz!

Anyway, onto the look, here we go 🙂 I am certainly no artist, if you play Draw Something with me you will know I draw stick figures 🙂

Here is a closer look of the nails:

And here is my inspiration:

The Polishes that I used were, “nail-aid Peeling Nails” as the base for all, Some of the nails were “Revlon – Coastal Surf” as base, one was “Elf – Medium Red” and “Spoiled Wet N Wild – Designated Driver” and “Julep – Kelly” The remaining colors were used for the art including some of the ones already listed “Elf – Light Red” , “Sally Hanson – Purple Pulse” “Julep – Oscar” “Milani – white”, “Essie – Vermillionaire”, “OPI – Planks A lot”, “Zoya – Shawn” , “Sinful Colors – Happy Ending”, “Ulta – Concrete Evidence”, “OPI – Fly”, Sinful Colors – Blackest Black”
