Stamping Saturday – May Flowers

It’s that time again, another edition of Stamping Saturday. I absolutely love the Spring and the Fall. What I love most about Spring are all of my flowers, shrubs, etc blooming and sprouting again, and all of the pretty insects that come along with Spring. You can have your mosquitos though.. lol

Today in honor of Spring since we had such a wacky winter here in NJ, I have a flower mani. I’m going to be honest though, I don’t like it… :/ I don’t know if it’s the color scheme or what but I’m not a fan and these will be coming off very shortly.. lol

I used two coats of Jessica’s Strawberry Shake it for the base. The purple flowers are using stamp Red Angel RA-308 and OPI’s Planks A lot, the pink ones are using Venique’s Flip Flop to the Beach. The other nails with the vines I used the same stamping plate and the green is Orly’s Lucky Duck with the same two flower colors just alternating. The center yellow was Zoya’s Darcy.

So what do you think? Any big plans this weekend?

Don’t forget this Thursday is the Lacquer Ring’s first bi-weekly challenge.

NOTD 154 – Featured Color Friday – Special Sneak Peek

Happy Friday guys! Today, 9 years ago my husband and I tied the knot at the Justice of Peace in Killeen, TX; The Army town that we were living in. 🙂 Five years later with Army deployments behind us, we renewed our vows in a ‘wedding ceremony’ and reception back in Jersey shared by our closest friends and family. Nine years later, we still have the most special, strongest relationship. I don’t know what I’d do without him ❤

On another exciting note, I have a sneak peak of a new and upcoming Shimmer Polish! I received four special polishes in the mail the other day from Shimmer and of course my favorite was the one not even up for sale yet, its brand spanking new!

*This polish was sent to me for unbiased review.

I have for you, ‘Astrid’. It’s a Gorgeous light purple base, not quite clear, suspended glitter polish. the glitter flecks are all shapes, there are purples, and pinks, and my favorite the color changing ones depending on the light. Unfortunately not the best for photo taking so I did my best, I hope that the pictures can do this stunning polish justice.

NOTD 144 – Double stamping!

Hey guys!

So first I am going to tell you about our Target trip first from last night… So we go in to Target and as always plan on getting one or two things we need and end up with much more.. I know I am not the only one! So we walk by the kids aisles and Don suggests we get coloring books… yes I am 26 and he is 32 but although we are adults we are not quite ‘grown-ups’ yet; Don’t get me wrong we are totally responsible Adults, just like a lot of kid stuff, movies, etc. LOL So anyway, Alright that sounds fun. We stand in the aisle for about 10 minutes picking out our two books and the crayons who knew that they had so many fun kind now. So we ended up with these giant coloring sheets, I get a Hello Kitty one of course and he gets Ninja Turtles. So we go to get some snacks and Capri Suns were on sale so we got three of those, and he ran out of chocolate syrup for chocolate milk.. among a few other things. So I had to pick up my prescription (ill tell you about that in a moment) so he went to check out. When we met up at the door, he was cracking up because the woman saw the coloring pages, the awesome set of crayons, the capri suns, and the chocolate syrup and told Don how he must be a good dad. LOL So we totally do not have kids, we are just big kids ourselves! Alright, now on to the Pharmacy… So I am standing there waiting for the script and the woman behind the counter comes over and while she is ringing the script up, she asks to see my nails, she says she loves them! She then wanted to take a picture of them, It made my day! She showed me her awesome white, neon pink, and silver nails! I then whipped out my cards I had made a while back with my website on it for times just like these, and told her about the blog. I came up to meet Don all smiles and told him all about it while he told me how good of a dad he was lol!

Alright now on to my awesome nails!

So I painted two coats of “OPI – Planks A lot”. With my new stamping plate from Vivid Lacquer ‘VL – 001’ I used “Essie’s – Nothing else Metals” and used the plaid stamp. I then thought that the contrast of the shiny purple looked a little crooked and I am just too anal so I thought well let me try double stamping, I have always wanted to do that. I then took the same stamp this time using ” Sally Hansen’s – Plumm-it” and offset the stamp a bit to make this effect. I must say I LOVE it.

So I don’t know what it is, maybe the contrasting of purples here, the fact that I finally attempted double stamping, or what it is, but I absolutely adore this mani! Other than the woman at Target, I have gotten other compliments since wearing too, which is always nice 🙂

Day 29 Supernatural – 31Challenge

The Challenge is almost over! 😦 I have to wonder, will I lose inspiration after this, not having defined for me what to do each day… I sure hope not 😛

I did some searching around, to see what others did for their Supernatural Day. I saw some Vampires, Werewolves, Ghosts.. and I that got me thinking… I didn’t want to do just any old ghost. So I did Zero and Oogie Boogie from one of my favorite movies, “The Nightmare Before Christmas”. Now in some arguments Oogie could be a stretch, but I think he’s kind of a ghost in a sense, he’s somewhat Supernatural so he fits, if not, I am bending the rules 😀

For Oogies coloring, I went for more of the Glow in the Dark Oogie Green, for when he glows in the dark in the movie, and I used a mixture of “Milani NEON – Fresh Teal”, “Julep – Sophia”, “Milani – White” and “Orly – Lucky Duck” and then “Sinful Colors – Blackest Black”

for Zero I used “Milani – White”, “Sinful Colors – Blackest Black”, “E.l.f. – Medium Red” for his collar, and “Essie – Vermillionaire” for his Pumpkin nose.

The base color for all of the nails is “OPI – Planks A Lot”

Day 23 Inspired by a Movie – 31Challenge

I would like to start by saying,  Again, that I am in LOVE with Seche Vite’! When I did my Drying Drops articles and posts, many bloggers recommended it, but I just couldn’t see spending the money on a new top coat yet when I had just purchased the drops. Last week, I gave in, they had little minis at the Register of Image Beauty.  When I tell you this top coat dries in SECONDS I mean seconds! I tried it on the neon the other day and thought that maybe it was just because neon dries quickly anyway. After doing these nail arts and anyone that has worked with black polish can tell you how it bleeds or drags when you do top coat, I did not even wait for it to dry, put the top coat and WHAM Dry! wootz!

Anyway, onto the look, here we go 🙂 I am certainly no artist, if you play Draw Something with me you will know I draw stick figures 🙂

Here is a closer look of the nails:

And here is my inspiration:

Movie Images Provided by Google Images Search

The Polishes that I used were, “nail-aid Peeling Nails” as the base for all, Some of the nails were “Revlon – Coastal Surf” as base, one was “Elf – Medium Red” and “Spoiled Wet N Wild – Designated Driver” and “Julep – Kelly” The remaining colors were used for the art including some of the ones already listed “Elf – Light Red” , “Sally Hanson – Purple Pulse” “Julep – Oscar” “Milani – white”, “Essie – Vermillionaire”, “OPI – Planks A lot”, “Zoya – Shawn” , “Sinful Colors – Happy Ending”, “Ulta – Concrete Evidence”, “OPI – Fly”, Sinful Colors – Blackest Black”

Day 11 Polka Dots – 31Challenge

I would like to start off with a brief review of the Cuticle Oil that I got in my most recent Julep box, since I used it when I did my manicure last night. It smelled very nice, wasn’t too greasy, and after I rubbed it on my cuticles & nails it seemed to soak in after about a minute or two. The next morning my fingers didn’t seem as dry and cracked as they normally are during the winter months. Overall I found the product very helpful so far. 🙂

For the Polka Dot Challenge Day , I went with a more Spring / Easter ( I know it’s early still but don’t worry I’ll change it again soon. For the Stripes day of the challenge I want to go back and do another St. Patrick’s look 🙂 ). Here is a close up of one hand.

And the final look.

To start the look I varied my base colors, I used “OPI-Too Pink to Hold em'” for the pink fingers and a clear on all of the mainly polka-dotted fingers. For the Dots I used “OPI’s – Planks A lot – Pirates of the Caribbean collection”,  “Revlon ColorStay – Bonsai”,  “OPI -Dating a Royal”, “Ulta – Celebutante”, my Pink listed above, and my Dotter Tools. For the full polka-dotted fingers I started out with scattered dots of the blue, then once dry, the Pink, and so on for the remainder of the colors. For the pink based/polka tipped fingers I used the “Celebutante” as bigger dots on the tip of my nails, then once dry I dotted a thin layer of the blue, the other purple, and then green.

What do you think of this Polka Dotted look? Have you bought and tried any dotting tools, if so what did you think?
