Stamping Saturdays – Dandelion

Today is Armed Forces Day and my local supermarket honored our local Veterans and my husband was one of them! They had a list of the Veterans and they picked 5 and he was chosen. It was such a nice day, they had a little ceremony, they gave all of the Veterans flowers, a fruit basket, a bank gift card, a letter from the Governor, and a Certificate.  They had a little lunch buffet and presented everyone with their certificates of appreciation. I was so happy that Don got picked and that we were all able to be a part of it.

Unfortunately, my pinky nail is still hella short but at least its not bloody anymore 😦 My backyard is covered in dandelions! Ava runs through the field with her mouth open and just attacks them, she absolutely loves it! In honor of this gorgeous day I did two coats of OPI’s No Room for the blues, and I stamped Ulta’s Snow White and Red Angels RA-318. The stamp is more of a flower with leaves on the stem so I just used the top part of it and didn’t use the leaves. I then painted the stem using China Glaze’s Liquid Leather as the stem because I didn’t like the way green looked over the blue.

NOTD 171 – I wanna see your Peacock

In my last post I said that my sister was coming in on Monday but I lied… BUT I had to! Just in case my mom saw my blog Friday…. So we (my sister and I) told my mom that my sister was coming to visit on Monday, yesterday and staying all week, when in reality we were surprising her Friday. I asked my mom to go to dinner the four of us (my mom, her husband Bill, Don, and I) So my sister came to my house first and followed us to dinner. The four of us sat down and then my sister came in a few minutes after us. Now the place we went to, we have been going to for years so the woman knows Marissa. Donna, the waitress pulls up a table and an extra chair and is like “oh is she joining you” and the three of us (cuz Bill was in on it too) were all like ohh whoo 🙂 and my mom freaked, it was too awesome!! So my sister is here now until Saturday she drives back Saturday morning and I get to spend time with her and Thomas ❤

I did my nails on Saturday night and now I can’t get Katy Perry’s Peacock song out of my head… song not suitable for young children… LOL

For this look I painted my thumb and my middle finger using Revlon – Ocean, and the other three using Avon Cosmic. I stamped Ocean overtop using my peacock stamp and hand painted in the blues (Essie – Bikini so Teeny and Essie’s – Aruba Blue) in the feather and touched up the stem of the feather using Milani glitter nail art. Here is my final look

NOTD 154 – Featured Color Friday – Special Sneak Peek

Happy Friday guys! Today, 9 years ago my husband and I tied the knot at the Justice of Peace in Killeen, TX; The Army town that we were living in. 🙂 Five years later with Army deployments behind us, we renewed our vows in a ‘wedding ceremony’ and reception back in Jersey shared by our closest friends and family. Nine years later, we still have the most special, strongest relationship. I don’t know what I’d do without him ❤

On another exciting note, I have a sneak peak of a new and upcoming Shimmer Polish! I received four special polishes in the mail the other day from Shimmer and of course my favorite was the one not even up for sale yet, its brand spanking new!

*This polish was sent to me for unbiased review.

I have for you, ‘Astrid’. It’s a Gorgeous light purple base, not quite clear, suspended glitter polish. the glitter flecks are all shapes, there are purples, and pinks, and my favorite the color changing ones depending on the light. Unfortunately not the best for photo taking so I did my best, I hope that the pictures can do this stunning polish justice.

Picture 1017

I used two coats of ‘Catrice – Heavy Metalilac’ on my accent finger and two coats of ‘OPI – Planks A Lot’ on the rest along with two coats of ‘Astrid’ On my accent finger, I used my new stamp, ‘Winstonia – W102′  using “Essie – Nothing else metals’

NOTD 145 – Featured Color Friday – Channeling Coco

As promised last week, I have for you the other gorgeous ‘Darling Diva’ that I received to review for you guys. The shop description is that this is a pale warm pink base with small black and pink glitters.  This polish is also not meant to be a glitterbomb, meant to be more sparse glitters.

IMG_2577

I used about 2-3 coats of this and topped off with ‘Seche Vite’

This polish is so gorgeous! I am not totally sold with it against my skin tone, although it kept growing on me; Maybe if I wasn’t so damn white and actually got some color! 🙂

  • Darling Diva is run by a husband and wife. The couple works full-time and the business started out as a hobby and took off!
  • Fun Facts about the creator/mixer and her order fulfillment/shipper husband: They own 3 parrots, 2 basset hounds, and are very active in dog rescues. (Check out the two polishes in the shop 100% proceeds benefit charitable organizations and one of them is Basset rescue)
  • Darling Diva Polishes can be found on their Etsy shop by clicking here. and their Facebook page by clicking here
  • The shop prices average from about $9 – $12 which seems to be pretty average for most Indies.
  • As I said in last Fridays post, the bottle and brushes are great.
  • The polish thickness was great, very creamy, not too thick.
  • The glitters came out with ease, again not meant to be a glitterbomb.

NOTD 142 – Featured Color Friday – Peonie

Good Morning, Happy Friday! As you are reading this, I am currently down the shore with a nice 4day weekend! 🙂 However, I couldn’t leave you without a featured color Friday!!

I received in the mail last week two amazing polishes from Darling Diva for me to try out and review for you guys! I have never owned any Darling Diva’s until now, and I must say after trying these two, I am hooked! I received “Channeling Coco” and “Peonie”

Today I have for you, ‘Peonie’. On the shop details its listed as a soft linear holographic. Can I just say how gorgeous this color is…! I screamed when I opened the package on Friday and nearly had the same reaction when I used it for my mani earlier this week. The bottle and brush are great, the labels are adorable, and the polish was just the right amount of thickness.

IMG_2559

I used 2-3 coats of ‘Peonie’ and then stamped using “Sally Hansen – Plum-It” I stamped a butterfly on my accent nail, all topped with “Seche Vite”

Here are some more pics of this soft beauty but now with flash.

  • After trying this polish I will definitely go back for more! 🙂
  • It also stood the test of time, or in my case up to the two – three-day mark when I take my polishes off anyway.

Come back next week for my Channeling Coco review 🙂

NOTD 141 – Endless Blue save

Good Morning! So as I stated on Monday’s post I forgot to wrap my blue mani as I should have, so just what I thought was going to happen, did… it started to chip at the bottom. I then painted a gradient look using “Shimmer – Strength” So funny thing is… well not funny because I still had to change the polish the next day… lol Anyway, my Seche was getting thick and I didn’t use my thinner (seche shrinks polish as it gets thicker) and of course when I did the gradient AND wrapped, it still shrunk so you will see my tips bare again :/ whomp whomp!

So here is two coats of “Sinful Colors – Endless Blue” along with a gradient tip using “Shimmer – Strength” and my thick “Seche Vite” that caused even my wrapped tips to shrink 😦

NOTD 140 – Endless Blue

Happy Rainy Monday…. ugg! The news said rain, but half our drive we could not even see it was coming down so hard, you could barely see the guys lights in front of you or the lines on the road. So scary, it took us the full hour to get to work today. 😦

Anyways it appears to have let up a little so I have a sunny color for you today, “Sinful Colors – Endless Blue” This was two coats (then topped with Seche Vite) and as you can see in my pics I forgot to wrap so my post on Wednesday will be a saving mani post 🙂

IMG_2553

Although they look incredibly similar, this is not the same pic! lol This is such a beautiful cobalt blue and when wrapped properly lasted a few days last time!

NOTD 113 – Featured Color Friday – Stinkycolor

Good Morning and HAPPY FRIDAY!

The lovely Cynthia over at Of Life and Lacquer got me “Kleancolor- Fuscia Holo” for my Birthday, off of my Polish wish list.

I was very excited because this was my first Kleancolor and finally got to use it for this weeks ‘Featured Color Friday’ segment. The overall polish is a fuscia colored, verrry jelly like color. There are little flicks in it that remind me of “Essie’s Shrine of the Tides” but these flicks are circular like glitter shaped shiny flicks. I call this post Stinkycolor because I do not know if it is all Kleancolors, (I think I remember some other bloggers commenting to this too) but they STINK! lol

Once you get over the stinkiness, and its very slow dry time, overall I really liked this polish. Its unique and very pretty! Thank you so much Cynthia! ❤

Because this is a pink with purple tints it was hard to capture, so this is not 100% true to color here and I apologize, I tried everything! Different rooms, different lighting, flash, no flash, lightbox, no lightbox, outside, you name it, at least you will get the idea.

HMOTD 4 – Witch booties

Today is the fourth Halloween Mani of the Day and it’s witches feets 😀 I used “Ulta – Celebutante” on all nails, topped all but ring finger with “Sinful Colors – Call ya later”. The ring finger accent nail art was done with “China Glaze – Liquid leather”, “OPI – Did it on em'” and “Milani – white”

The second picture of my other hand is kind of blurry but it unfortunately was the best shot I got of that hand… lol plus it’s pretty with the shining of the light on the glitter 🙂

So what do you think of my with booties mani? What do you currently have on your nails?

HMOTD 3 – Werewolves

For this mani, I did werewolf eyes and bloody fangs, and attempted some fur texture.

Colors used were (L-R) “Spoiled by Wet N’ Wild – Designated Driver”, “Avon – Mink Vision”, “China Glaze – Adventure Red-y”, “e.l.f – medium brown”, “Milani – white”, “China Glaze – Liquid Leather”, “Nailtek base coat”, “Seche Vite top coat”

To create this look, after base coat, I did two coats of “Avon Mink Vision” on all nails but middle finger, which was two coats of “Liquid Leather”. On the brown based nails I took a few style brushes and dipped it in the white and the medium brown and just did different brush strokes to make the appearance of fur. The middle finger, I hand painted his mouth using  the white and the blood was the “Adventure Red-y”. My pointer and ring fingers, I made the base of the eye with “Liquid Leather” then made the center with “Designated Driver” and the black overtop again. All fingers topped with Seche Vite.

This last picture was with a flame overlay thought it made it look kind of cool

So what do you think of my werewolf nails?

Day 25 Inspired by Fashion – 31Challenge

I will start with an update on my nails, they are growing slowly but surely 🙂 not complete stubs anymore, on another note, I cracked my big toe nail right up the side so the one of those is all short now… ::sigh::

For the Fashion Inspiration, I chose Stella McCartney. I love how she uses a lot of black sheer with black polka dots in her “little black dress” looks. I found a couple of her looks to show you my inspiration, that can be seen by clicking here.

Here is my look :

For this look, I painted the “Julep – Emma” in the morning before work so that it had plenty of time to dry as I planned on using the taping technique. Then last night, I did one nail at a time and topped it off with “Seche Vite’ ” so it dried right away and I could move on without having to worry about smudging it. I put a piece of tape, (actually I use address labels and cut them, same thing), on my nail. I did my pinky and Ring Finger points facing each other and my pointer and middle, facing each other. Once I was done with the tape and black, I used my dotting tools to make different size dots and topped it off with the top coat. All of the nails used the same technique. For my thumb, the only difference was, since I did two angles, I put a little “Seche Vite’ ” over the first diagonal and came back to it, so that I could put tape on it without having to worry about it ripping the black off, and did the other angle, and dots same way.

The Colors I used were, the “nail-aid – Peeling Nail Base Coat”, “Julep – Emma”, and “Blackest Black by Sinful Colors” The top Coat I used was “Seche Vite'”

Day 22 Inspired by a song – 31Challenge

Inspiration from a Song:  This challenge was so fun, to try to think of different songs for inspiration, I love music, all different genres from all different eras. 🙂 My inspiration was “Neon Trees – Animal”  (click the picture below for the music video on YouTube. ) and the look is Neon Animal print.

Image provided by Google Images Search

The polishes I chose for this were: “China Glaze – Pink Voltage (neon)” and “Zoya – Charisma” for me left hand with “Sinful Colors – Blackest Black”. My Right hand was “OPI – Fly (Nicki Minaj collection)” with “Essie – Vermillionaire” and “Blackest Black” I used “nail-aid – Peeling Nail” as a base and then white as a wonderful tip from Nicole 🙂 I also must say I am now a “Seche Vite addict” I bought a sample of this at Image Beauty last week and it is amazing! It dries so fast! Way faster than the drying drops!!

Can I just say, before I show you the polishes, and the final look how hard it was to try to capture the neon and brightness of these colors!! 😦 They are brighter in person.

And here are a few different views of the finished look 🙂
