The Lacquer Ring – Inspired by Frosso

This month as you saw in our color inspiration post, we are doing nails inspired by Frosso. She is a very dear friend of ours who is behind the now retired blog Lacquer Me Silly. As sad as we are to see her retire, I’m sure you will see her pop up on Instagram from time to time ūüėČ

How can one choose just ONE look of Frosso’s to be inspired by, I love all of her nails. With Halloween being this week,¬†I decided to do one of her Halloween looks… since Lesley took the look I wanted. LOL Just kidding! She did an amazing job! All of the girls did!

I chose Frosso’s Halloween splatter. This is her look:¬† She transferred her files to wordpress so you can check out the full article here.

For this look I painted two coats of OPI’s Can’t Afjord not to. I splattered China Glaze’s Liquid Leather, Ulta’s Snow White, Sinful Colors Happy Ending, and Opi’s Do you have this color in Stock-holm. Not only can this look be messy but depending on your approach it can use a lot of polish so be careful.

I have only done one splatter, and had forgotten just how messy it can be.. wow LOL

The good thing is that I thought to use OPI’s Glitter off on my fingers so it minimized clean up a lot… however the way I held my hand when I did it, I didn’t think to glitter off my hands too… SMH

This is how it came out though, and I must say I absolutely love it!

The Lacquer Ring – Cherry Blossoms

We are back for our first Nail art group post from the Lacquer Ring. As we said before, Nicole from Polish Me, Please was in charge of picking our color this month which was orange and our nail art group post which is Cherry Blossoms. I already texted Nicole last night cursing her because I was so frustrated and hating how my Blossoms were coming out. Damn you Nicole! lol

When I think of Cherry Blossoms I think of Pink. I did some research and found some other colors. I decided to go with the white variety.

My sister is in town for a few weeks to visit!! She was over the other night so I had her help me pick a base color for my¬†Cherry Blossoms. She came up with¬†two coats of Darling Diva’s Dangerous Driver. My¬†branches I used a brush and mixed drops of Urban Decay’s Gunmetal and one of China Glazes’s¬†Liquid Leather. For my blossoms, I dotted them on using¬†Ulta’s Snow White. The Center I mixed Sinful Colors Happy Ending and Jessica’s Banana Peel. For the¬†pollen,¬†I lightly brushed the yellow again and tipped it with China Glaze Liquid Leather.

I first¬†painted two coats of Deborah Lippman’s¬†– New Flesh, for the wreath, I used¬†Ulta’s Envy. I painted the string of lights although its covered mostly with the lights, using China Glaze’s Liquid Leather. For the light colors, I used Sinful Colors – Happy Ending, Nubar¬†– Lustful Red, Spoiled by Wet N’ Wild – Designated Driver, Ruffian – Foxhunt, and Nina Ultra Pro – Cobalt. The bow was painted using Lustful Red and finally, I painted the glare on the lights using Milani Nail Art Silver glitter, and the middle of the bow.

NOTD 45 – Happy Ending Shrinkage

ahaha! Now that I have your attention, here is today’s NOTD.

I¬†have entitled this NOTD¬†as I used “Sinful Colors – Happy Ending” and I had some shrinkage going on from Seche¬†Vite. This is the first time this has happened to me.¬†ūüė¶¬†Everyone always talks about it and I had never experienced it, until now¬†ūüė¶ (see pinky finger in picture).

The colors used in this mani¬†were the “Sinful Colors – Happy Ending” and “Essie’s Aruba Blue” for a¬†stamp design. I then¬†applied a goldish little bead in the center of the flowers. My thumbs which are not shown because I was bad and have been chomping! Shriek! (¬†I have had a bad weekend – start of the week )¬†I put a few of the flowers off centered like I did my¬†big toe in this post.¬†along with the goldish beads in the ones that had centers.

I am getting better with the stamps, not too many issues with these, had to do some touch ups with a teeny brush, other than that I am in love with this mani and the colors. The Sinful colors polish was hard to capture, the flash kept going off and I felt that it made the colors almost look like I had a matte top coat. See the shrunken pinky picture for the best acurate depiction of the green color, love this color!

Day 24 Inspired by a Book – 31Challenge

This look was Inspired by a book. The colors I used were “Blackest Black – by Sinful Colors”, “Sinful Colors – Happy Ending”, ¬†and “Zoya – Shawn”

Why blacks and greens you ask? Well you see I am in mourning, over my fingernails… ūüė• As you may have seen from doing my nails so much, my nails were peeling¬†until I got this great base¬†coat. However I never trimmed off the original cracked, damaged tips. I just did that and I hate them. I was doing so good with keeping them long and healthy and then now they are so short again and I am NOT Happy… but hey, I’ll grow them out again : )

Anyway the book I chose was a series of R.L. Stine, Children horror books. I remember reading these as a kid and I loved them ūüôā

If you are not farmiliar with the Goosebumps Series, you can see it here:

Day 23 Inspired by a Movie – 31Challenge

I would like to start by saying,¬† Again, that I am in LOVE with Seche¬†Vite’! When I did my Drying Drops articles and posts, many bloggers recommended¬†it, but I just couldn’t¬†see spending the money on a new top coat¬†yet when I had just purchased the drops. Last week, I gave in, they had little minis at the Register of Image Beauty.¬† When I tell you this top coat dries in SECONDS I mean seconds! I tried it on the neon the other day and thought that maybe it was just because neon dries quickly anyway. After doing these¬†nail arts and anyone that has worked with black polish can tell you how it bleeds or drags when you do top coat, I did not even wait for it to dry, put the top coat and WHAM Dry! wootz!

Anyway, onto the look, here we go ūüôā I am certainly no artist, if you play Draw Something with me you will know I draw stick figures ūüôā

Here is a closer look of the nails:

And here is my inspiration:

Movie Images Provided by Google Images Search

The Polishes that I used were, “nail-aid Peeling Nails” as the base for all, Some of the nails were “Revlon – Coastal¬†Surf” as base, one was “Elf – Medium Red” and “Spoiled Wet N Wild – Designated Driver” and “Julep – Kelly” The remaining colors were used for the art including some of the ones already listed “Elf – Light Red” , “Sally Hanson – Purple Pulse” “Julep – Oscar” “Milani¬†– white”, “Essie – Vermillionaire”, “OPI – Planks A lot”, “Zoya¬†– Shawn” , “Sinful Colors – Happy Ending”, “Ulta – Concrete Evidence”, “OPI – Fly”, Sinful Colors – Blackest Black”
