NOTD 177 – Nail art Contest – Holiday Decorations

Well guys, we still don’t know who won Week 1 yet ‘Snow’. They have extended the voting in to Wednesday night and they will announce on Thursday. Alright guys, moving on to Week 2, As far as I know the voting ends for this on Saturday still unless they extend this, so shoot for it ending Saturday night. Get out and vote for this one too, ASAP. Remember these are two different weeks, so if you voted for Week 1’s Snow mani, please go and vote for Week 2’s Holiday decorations mani!!! 🙂

For this mani, I went with a wreath theme. I used a small brush and painted a wreath, with lights and a glittery bow, all decorations on their own or together, I hope you like it!

I first painted two coats of Deborah Lippman’s – New Flesh, for the wreath, I used Ulta’s Envy. I painted the string of lights although its covered mostly with the lights, using China Glaze’s Liquid Leather. For the light colors, I used Sinful Colors – Happy Ending, Nubar – Lustful Red, Spoiled by Wet N’ Wild – Designated Driver, Ruffian – Foxhunt, and Nina Ultra Pro – Cobalt. The bow was painted using Lustful Red and finally, I painted the glare on the lights using Milani Nail Art Silver glitter, and the middle of the bow.

NOTD 112 – Love Mani

Today I have a mushy love mani for you. Some people are anti-Valentine’s Day, some people get overly mushy, and some people are just in the middle. I am more in the middle, I have been married for 9 years now and Valentine’s Day is special don’t get me wrong, but as cheesy as it may sound, every day is Valentine’s Day. Okay, maybe not every day, but we try to make life special every day, our relationship special every day, so I am more of an in the middle kind of gal when it comes to the actual Valentine’s Day. We went out to dinner and a movie last week, (Not going ON the day, too crazy, and we figured that this weekend would also be insane). We saw Warm Bodies and went to a Hibachi Steak and Seafood grill, which was delish!

I call this a mushy mani as I took out every love, heart, rose, etc. stamp that I had for todays nails. lol 🙂

I started out by painting three coats of “e.l.f. – pearl pink” This is a very light and subtle shimmery, pearly pink.

My thumb, I used Stamp OB-M I dotted two of the roses with “Zoya – Suri” and the last one with “China Glaze – Adventure Red-y” and the stems and leaves I dotted with “Ulta – Envy”. I also took two hearts from stamp “SE-20” off of the xoxo stamp to add to the side of the roses.

My ring finger, I used the stamp “SE-21” I put a dot of “Suri” in the middle and outlined it with “Adventure Red-y”

For my pinky I used the same stamp from “OB-M” I finished off all of the roses with a little glitter “Milani – art of silver”, I don’t know if you have ever seen the glitter dusted roses, that is what I was going for.

I used the hearts stamp from “SE-21” on my pointer finger and where I placed it wasn’t center so the bottom part of my nail was exposed and looked odd… I re-stamped some more of the hearts from the same stamp in the red. The reflection spots in the stamp, I accentuated with the glitter.

I then used the ‘xoxo’ stamp from “SE-20” and put the xoxo in the red and the hearts in the purple. Once done, I then added two more hearts from same stamp in the red.

The other hand, I got lazy and it was getting late last night.. lol so I used the same base, but alternated the red and the purple on every other finger, using stamp “OB-M” the heart, again accented with the glitter.

Day 12 Stripes (St Patrick’s day edition) – 31Challenge

I started this look on Thursday night and painted all of my fingers white as a base.  It felt like I waited forever for the base to dry… in reality it was about an hour and a half (which really, really sucked given what happened next…).

With this day of the challenge being stripes, I figured I would continue by cutting scotch tape strips and then paint over them. The very first one I tried to remove ripped the polish right off… so I waited another half  hour & came back to it to remove the other strips. That yielded better results, but after I had done all of my nails I ended up hating about 4 of them. Two of which because the water decals I used got “funky” and “gellish” like once I put top coat on.  Here is a picture of the decal before it got “funky”.

Before bed on Thursday in my frustration I took the polish off three of my fingernails and I agreed I would give it another go on Friday night. That’s precisely what I did (after a day at work with 3 naked nails…). Friday I repainted those nails and added the gold in between the stripes on most nails to give it some flare and represent a pot of gold. 🙂

Here is the final look

The polishes for this look were, “Milani – white” for the base on all nails. The Dark Green shown is “Ulta- Envy”, the light is “Revlon ColorStay – Bonsai” , the gold is “Julep – Oscar”, and the very light, almost just a shimmer of, green  is “OPI – Se ya later Sailor”.

All in all I liked the final result, sure it was challenging, but this was my first stripes and scotch tape attempt. i still love my nails and coming up with new ways to “Decorate” them, that will never change : )

Day 2/3 Orange & Yellow – 31Challenge

Day 2 and three will be click as  I only have ONE orange and ONE yellow and I already used them for the nail art in day one. I also do not like the yellow or orange choices that I have.. 😦 Shown above is “Spoiled by Wet n wild – Don’t be cheesy”

This polish as I have said in my day 1 post is a little watery .. but hard to not get a lot of polish on the brush it’s weird… but I guess that is what you get for $1.99 sometimes.. lol

Okay and as promised, here is day 3 , yellow – Shown above from left to right is “Avon – Splendid Blue” , “Spoiled by wet n wild – Designated Driver” , “OPI’s – Grape, Set, Match” , and “Ulta’s – Envy”

I did a little play on a Mardi Gras nail design but not too detailed since it wasn’t staying on long at all, since again I hate this yellow on my nails and skin tone.

I put a couple of drops of nail polish on a plate of the purple, the blue, and the green. I then took a toothpick to make cascading dots on my ring finger to represent the beads. my pinky has a purple stripe in the middle and then on either side of it is the blue and the green. The middle finger has a blue tip and the pointer finger purple. Unfortunately this picture did not capture the colors as much as I would have wanted it to. Plus unfortunately the shades were very close to each other.
