EOTD 31 – Cosmic Browns

I realised that it has been quite some time since I have done a ‘Eye of the Day’ so today I have some fabulous browns for you along with a step by step tutorial 🙂

IMG_2273

  • Step 1: (After primer – I use Urban Decay primer potion) Using an angle brush dipped in “Urban Decay’s – Snake Bite” I drew along the crease starting from the outside in and stopped about a quarter of the way from the inside crease.
  • Step 2: Using same brush blend as much as you can into the same area. Apply another coat and continue blending until desired darkness is achieved.
  • Step 3: Using an all over shadow brush and “Urban Decays – Bootycall” I then blended above the crease where my brown is, along the lash line under the brown, and on the inner corner and crease where the brown stopped.
  • Step 4: * If desired* Once you blend the tan and brown together you can go back and add a little bit of the “Snake Bite” in the outer corner to darken up that corner again.
  • Step 5: Apply a thin line of liner, I used “Avon Glimmersticks in Cosmic Brown”
  • Step 6: Topped off with mascara, I used “Urban Decay – Super Curl Curling Mascara”

EOTD 29 – Cobalt cat eye

Happy Monday! I know, oxymoron… :/

Before we get to the make up look, week three of the nail challenge is this week. I should be getting an email later today with this final weeks (before grand prize week) topic. Don’t forget to click here to go vote,(Hopefully for me. 😀 ) for week two. Voting for week two closes Wednesday, December 5th 🙂

Now, for today’s look, I tried something a little different and quite time-consuming… lol. A while back I got these “Eye Rock – eye tattoo” things in one of my Birchbox. Unfortunately most of the reviews of other Birchbox users stated that they didn’t stick, or last all day, which mine did not either.. I had gotten the idea back then and never got a chance to try it until now. Once you take the ‘sticker’ off of the paper you are left with a sort of stencil. I, (not easily) stuck that to each eye and traced inside of it with my liquid liner. Once the ‘stencil’ was removed I had to go back over it and define it more.

Here’s what I used:

“Urban Decay primer potion”

“Eye Rock – eye tattoo” as stencil

“Avon Extra Lasting Eye liner in Cobalt”

“Too Faced – After Glow in Lust” on lid

topped off with “Urban Decay – Super Curl Curling Mascara”

EOTD 28 – Thanksiving tattoos

No, I did not get a tattoo for Thanksgiving, I wish I got another one.. I used my Maybelline color tattoos for this look.. I hope all of my US friends (or anyone else that celebrated)’s Thanksgiving on Thursday? mine was nice, then exhausting, I went out at 7:30P on Thursday to Walmart, Kmart, and Target, we home and went to bed. Back and out of the house at 7 to Mall.. home around 12 I think it was. My feets were screaming, but I got decent deals. Especially on baby clothes, my sister is due in March and I didn’t even think about that on BF I was just so focused on Christmas presents, I walked by baby stuff and I think I screamed out loud I got such a good deal. Baby clothes need not be so expensive they grow out of them so quickly, so that’s why I was flippin out on my deals <. Anyway I hope everyone’s Thanksgiving was nice, and their BF was not too bad if they ventured out.

Onto my Thanksgiving day look.. I wore a not quite Royal but not quite Navy sweater so Iused “Urban Decay – primer potion” then “Bad to the bronze” on the outside corner and made a cat eye and brought into mid eye, to blend with “Tenacious Teal”. topped off with “Urban Decay Super Curl Curling Mascara”.

So what do you guys think of this look?

PLEASE don’t forget to vote (hopefully for me) on the Round 1 of 4 technically, Nail Art contest I entered: click here and view the contestants and if you like mine and want to vote, click Mae’s Beauty Reports as the drop down, after you type your name and email, then click submit. EOTD – 26 BCA makeup

My grandmother is a Breast Cancer Survivor, I have always tried to support and raise more Awareness whenever I can. My mother-in-law and I participated in the 2day, 39.3 mile, Avon Breast Cancer Walk in NYC last October, I have done the small 5k walks, I buy just about everything that says they donate a percentage of the profit to BC Awareness… of course this year is no different. I have worn my Breast Cancer Pin every day this month so far and will continue throughout the month.

My work is participating in a 5k walk at the end of the month and each Friday we are wearing Pink for Casual Fridays. Along with my pin, I wore a Pink button down shirt with my jeans, my pink Breast Cancer sneaks that I got for the walk last year, both of my pink rings, my pink rose earrings, a pink hair clip and of course the pink makeup that I am about to show you

*This is not an every day look for me, in fact if you look back at most of my EOTD posts they are all more subtle, this is the boldest I have done yet and I agree not very work appropriate for every day, however it is BCA Day at my work. My husband seems to think it’s too much…. :/ pff

ANYWAY, I used:

“Urban Decay Primer Potion”

Step 1: After primer is dry, used my “MAC eyeliner” to draw a cat eye and color in. Extend the top line of the cat eye about halfway to middle of eye in crease (similar to my last kohl eye liner look)

Step 2: Using “Coastal Scents – Vibrant Pink” which matches the eye liner, I took a small brush and covered the liner and blended

Step 3: Dab some “Coastal Scents – Pompano Pink” I put starting at the outer crease of my eye to mid and blended the two pinks.

Step 4: “Coastal Scents – Love Light” on inner corner to mid and blend those pinks so it’s a gradient pink look.

Step 5: Take same “MAC eye liner” and make a line on lower and upper lash line about 3/4 way in and blend with liner brush

Topped off with “Urban Decay Super Curl Curling Mascara”

So what do you think, do I look like “Mimi from the Drew Carey show”? 😦

EOTD 24 – gray/black

This will be a quick post today.  this look is my kind of smokey eye look. I am not big on darker colors like blacks, they scare me as far as blending. However I took the plunge and used from my e.l.f. shimmer palette, (so sorry no names) I used a light white/gray and a black shimmer. As always primer was “UD Primer potion” and mascara “UD Super Curl Curling Mascara”

What do you think?

EOTD 22 – Blues

I hardly ever use blues, I used a light blue, “Coastal Scents Polar Blue” and blended in a little “Coastal Scents Capri Blue” used my silver eye liner to make a cat or winged look. What do you think? I don’t love it, but I don’t hate it. I guess I just don’t feel like it enhances my eyes in any way like my trusty purples 😀

“Urban Decay Primer Potion”

“Coastal Scents in Capri Blue and Polar Blue”

“Avon Metallic eye liner in Shimmering Silver”

“Urban Decay Super Curl Curling Mascara”

“Coastal Scents – Flourescent (Satin)”

“Coastal Scents – Snow Bunny (Matte)”

“Avon Liquid Eye Liner in Shimmering Silver”

EOTD 20 – Fresh Chive

Happy Thursday =)

This look was a little out of my comfort zone with the more bright greens, I am trying to break out in those looks a little more, not anything crazy just a little more color, so let me know what you think! 🙂

This look was created with:

“Urban Decay Primer Potion”

“Coastal Scents shadow in Solar Flare (inner corner), Spring Fever (on majority of eyelid, to top), and Fresh Chive (on lid).”

“Mark. On the Edge Hook Up Liquid Liner in Medusa (a deep brown)”

“Urban Decay Super Curl Curling Mascara”

EOTD 19 – Plum Craze

Storybook Apothecary posted a really good post yesterday about some great and free photo editing sites. Now I am not one to alter my pictures entirely, however if I have a cut on my finger, or a red mark on my face, or even just to brighten the photo a little more than my camera can so that you see what I see… I am a total fan of editing. So I used it a little, made the color a little crisper again to make you see what I saw, just a little more advanced than my camera, then I messed around with some cool fonts for my watermark, and then a little blur to put a focus on the picture. I really liked the Pixlr Express, that is the one I used. I cannot wait to try it out in more detail for future posts. 😀 What are your thoughts on photo editing?

For this look I used my new “Avon Metallic liquid eyeliner in Plum Craze” and “Too Faced – After Glow in Lust” topped off with “Urban Decay Super Curl Curling Mascara”

So what do you think of this look and the minor editing? Is minor editing okay? What are your thoughts?

EOTD 18 – Bronzed cut crease

Since my grays didn’t pan out exactly as I wanted, and I still need practice on this look, I decided to try brown/bronzes today.

For the full tutorial on this look check out this post.

This time I used “UD Primer Potion”, “Maybelline 24 hour Color Tattoo eye shadow in “Bad to the Bronze” for the Cut crease and “Urban Decay Bootycall” for the rest. the liner I used was also the Color Tattoo with a liner brush, then topped off with “Urban Decay Super Curl Curling Mascara”

So what do you think of this overall look, am I improving? lol

EOTD 17 – Gray Cut crease

My friend Monique is a makeup artist. We hung out on Saturday night and just talked makeup, nails, about other makeup/nail blogs for hours and we had such a blast! She taught me a new look that I could try out which she called the cut crease. I tried it that night, so this is my second attempt you will have to let me know how I did. I do know that I blended more than I probably should have for this to be called a real cut crease, so you be the judge.

You will need an eye liner that is pretty creamy, that will glide on easily and will be easy to smudge and blend in. An eye shadow that is pretty close to that color if not a perfect match, and a more drastic lighter color for the lid and under brow. Then a liner either matching the first liner, or something again very similar.

Step 1: With your eye open, take the creamy like eye liner and trace a line a few hairs above your open crease, as well as a straight line down from that to the corner of your eye. Only go in about a third of the way, you can smudge it further later.

Step 2: With a blending brush, blend the liner in a soft and somewhat circular motion and upward. This will keep the liner and shadow away from the crease to give it that defined look.

Step 3: Repeat Step 1-2

Step 4: Dab your matching shadow over that area and blend in again upward.

Step 5: Take your lighter shadow, (white shown here) and apply to the lid and under the brow

Step 6: Line your eyes

Step 7: Mascara and go back to blend and perfect any lines or smudges you want to.

Here is my final look. I am not a big fan of grays on my eyes and as I said I think that I blended more than I probably should have for a cut crease- It’s supposed to be more dramatic. What do you think?

The “UD Primer potion” was used first, then the liner  was “Urban Decay 24/7 Double ended Glide-on eye liner in Uzi”, the shadow was a white no name by Ulta (this was part of a make up set I had gotten as a gift, so just a standard white), and the liner for the crease the name escapes me, if you really would like to know, please stop back later,  I will update tonight because I left the name at home. Of course mascara is Urban Decay Super Curl Curling Mascara.

EOTD 16- Purple (and new purchases) :)

I ordered a pair of Red suede wedges from Amazon on the 6th and they finally came!

The other new thing that I picked up was a “glitter Milani Eye Liner”. I went to look for the new Marker like liners that they have, but all they had, was black and I don’t usually use black. I ended up with their new Glitter Retractable Eye Liner in “Purple Quartz” that has a built-in sharpener and blender. Yep that’s right!

And now on to the look of the day, I used:

“e.l.f. Mineral infused face primer in clear”

“Clinique Redness Solutions Foundation”

“e.l.f. Studio Make Up mist and Set”

“UD Primer Potion”

“Inglot AMC Eye Shadow Shine 29”

“Maybelline Color Tattoo 24 Hour in 20 Painted Purple”

“Milani Glitter Eye Liner in Purple Quartz”

“UD Super Curl Curling Mascara”

“e.l.f. lip color in Classy”

EOTD13 – Purples

I was never big into make up, I had a lot of it sure, but they were all very neutral colors, beiges, light browns, etc. I was never wearing the “right” colors. About five years ago, I went to a Mary Kay Makeover Session with my Consultant at the time Wendy. She told me, “You have green eyes, let me find the purple palette for you” My eyes grew wide and I could feel the panic slowly grow inside of me. Purple! o m g, What am I going to do with that. There were other Consultants with their guests as well. and a Woman stood at the front and guided us through this Mary Kay Palette that lie before us. They showed us how to apply different looks with the palettes. The look honestly did not look too bad… until I got home. I realised that I looked like I had a black eye because the lighting was terrible in the restaurant.I just kept applying, and applying, and applying… wow.

I learned a few lessons that night: Make sure your lighting is good. Even to this day, there are days where my bedroom lighting is off and I get into the car, or downstairs and realise I need more blending. The Second is that color is your friend and frankly not going to kill me. As I said I was so scared at first, and still kind of am for very bold colors, but I have broken out into the purple world, some greens, blues, darker shades etc. There are certainly still shades that I tend to shy away from as I am not skilled enough to make it work, but I will get there.

In any event, ever since that day I have been drawn to, but certainly not limited to Purples. I have many a purple shade and liner in my collection. Perhaps I will need to do a Make up Collection Post here as I did my Polish Addiction (which desperately needs to be re-done, many more polishes, and I painted the shelf!!)

This look was created with:

“UD Primer Potion”

“Too Faced After Glow in Lust” on entire lid

“Terra Bronzer eye shadow in Lilac Pearl” on crease

and “Jemma Kidd liquid liner in Drama”

topped off with “UD Super Curl Curling Mascara”

Much more of my subtle purple looks, but still purple nonetheless. 😀

EOTD 8 – e.l.f. purple “Avon” look

I got the inspiration for this look in the Avon Book. I think it was the Campaign just before the most recent one. There was a girl in there with deep purples and a Navy to Royal Blue Eye Liner. Something about the purples and the blue eye liner really popped to me, she also had green eyes, like myself. A Friend pointed out a few looks and this one was just one I had to try!

I didn’t use as deep of purples as she did, but I still like the way it came out. I used the Bright Eye Edition Palette from e.l.f.  and they do not have names to their eye shadows. I used the white from another e.l.f. eye palette, and the lighter and darker purple from this palette. The purples blended together so much as there is apparently not as much of a contrast as I thought, so it’s hard to tell that I used two purples 😀 .

I used:

“UD Primer Potion”

“e.l.f. white” on the brow bone and inner corner lid

“e.l.f. light purple from Bright Eye Edition Palette” on the brow bone and inner to middle lid

“e.l.f. darker purple from Bright Eye Edition Palette” on the middle to outer lid.

Topped off with “Avon Glimmer Sticks in Twilight Sparkle”

and

“Urban Decay Super Curl Curling Mascara”

This last one I took I was in weird lighting, and then the flash… I think it came out so cool, doesn’t show the look really, just thought the coloring and the way my eye came out was awesome so I wanted to share this last one as well 😀

EOTD 6- Olivy Golden Sunrise

This morning was a very foggy and dreary appearing morning. I walk outside and see the vibrancy of my Beautiful Roses and was cheerful  😀

Then on my way to work I saw the cutest little beebees 😀 I love them best when they are much smaller like this, these are much bigger beebees, I like when they are soo small and fuzzy, Adorable!

Now onto the look.. I am calling this look “Olivy Golden Sunrise” as I used:

“UD Primer Potion”

“UD Book of Shadows IV – Zephyr” on the inner corner and as a highlight under brow, into the brow bone.

“Ulta – Aztec Gold” shadow as a lower lid liner

“UD Book of Shadows IV – Hijack” on the outer lid to middle

“UD Book of shadows IV – Baked” on the inner lid to middle

Blended all that in and topped it with “Prestige Total Intensity Eye Liner in Intense Olive” on upper lid and “UD Super Curl Curling Mascara”

I love how Shannon over at Eyemasq shows you where she put her colors, so I am taking a tip from her here. Check out some of her posts here. 😀

Here are a few different pictures of the finished look 😀
