NOTD 136 – Featured Color Friday – Lavender

I know I know… another week without a post until Featured Color Friday, What can I say, I’m a slacker. Today I have some purple nails for you that I am not 100% pleased with and then Monday, I will have some Memorial Day nails.

I painted two coats of “Zoya – Charisma” which for any of you that have this, know it’s SUPPOSED to look like a bright neon purple…. This is forever one of those colors that is just simply impossible to capture its true purpleness with my camera. I then took one coat of “Barry M – Lavender” over top it. Lavender is a clear based polish with silver glitter and lavender colored square glitter pieces. This polish is great, it’s not dry, glides on really well this is only one coat and I was pleased with it. The purple itself however, I was not pleased with.

Call me crazy, which I know I am sometimes… 🙂 but this to me is just one of those toes colors. I love it on my toes but not on my hands. I currently have “Jade – Deja Vu'” on my feet and I don’t like it but I love it on my hands…

Anyway, here it is:

This next one is even further from the color, but I just love the way that the glitter shimmers in the picture. You will notice that a lot of the pictures make the square glitters appear silver, but look at the ones to the sides of my nails you can kind of see the lavender color in them

Well guys, that’s it for me today, like I said I will be back Monday for some Memorial Day nails.

NOTD 74 – Slumber Party

Last night as I am doing my nails, my husband informed me, or reminded me that I haven’t done any nail art lately, whether it be free hand or stamps. During the 31 day challenge I did a lot more art than I have lately and I think it’s just that I have been on such an effect kick. An effect kick as in, glitters and color changing nail polish; Nail polish that has an effect that doesn’t need nail art. For those of you that are fans of my art, whether it be my free hand (which is not that great, lol) or my stamping, I promise that for the Halloween Mani month I will be bringing back some more nail art.

With that being said, I painted my nails last night with “Zoya – Charisma” 2C, and “Milani – White” 2C as an accent and topped it off with “Lush Lacquer’s – Slumber Party” 1C. This is a gorgeous multi shaped glitter topper in black, white, pink, purple, and blue. Just as “Salt n Pepa” the formula was amazing and so easy to work with and just simply fabulous!

And lastly, here is a close up of the white and purple so you can really see how different the topper looks on different colors. Obviously with the white you lose the white flicks but still looks really pretty.

NOTD 57 – FAIL

Hey guys, It feels like forever since I have posted last… I broke three nails so I cut them all short, short, short, I am starting over. Right now they are painted with “Essie’s Vermillionaire” and “Zoya – Charisma” on the ring finger again as I attempted the Herringbone look… UNsucessfully… I have to bathe both of my monstrous puppers this weekend so hopefully if I can get to that in tonight, I will paint tomorrow. I am going to bravely attempt some more stamping while they are short.. ::sigh::

Please ignore the chips, already in the Zoya as you will notice, they got all jacked up from my Herringbone attempt..

So I check my email and received not 1, 2, but FIVE email notifications letting me know that this one polish I have been longing for is back in stock… I am assuming I very much wanted it, since I so absent-mindedly clicked “email me when in stock” 5 times… haha! It’s called “Vermelho Surreal by Jade”, it’s a beautiful Red holographic, I also ended up getting “Energy” which is greenish blue “Jade holo”, also in todays purchase. lol

That is all for this quick post. Hope everyone is enjoying their friday, have a fun weekend! I will be back soon! 🙂

NOTD 56 – Sorbet

So the past few days here in NJ, especially this weekend its been very hot and humid, so last night we had a crazy storm and it was pouring so loudly, was just insane. The dogs didn’t want to go potty so we were just waiting for a few minutes to see if it would die down so that they could before bed. I went out on the front porch to check on my plants (only one casualty, one of my tomato plants 😦 ) Anyway, I come back inside to see my two dogs running from room to room chasing something, wtf. I see a flying thing on the fireplace. My fireplace wall is odd-shaped stones so “it” was perched on one of the stones. It’s dark, I’m tired, Don was already upstairs checking on something, I start screaming that there is a bat on the fireplace. Now in my defense, we do have a lot of bats in our area and it was very dark… He comes downstairs and puts the children in our bedroom while we try to deal with this now, situation.. ugh. So he gets a flashlight and shines the light on the fireplace, and to our surprise, and my relief it’s just a bird, not a bat. He then starts flying from the kitchen to the living room, and back again, he ended up in the Dining room and the media room, back to the living room, only to perch on the stones again and poop on my mantle. We finally got him to the living room, opened the door and held up blankets for walls so he could not fly past us again and go out the door(2nd of this attempt worked) lol. Only me…

So after talking about it this morning, we think that the bird must have been hiding out in my door wreath and when I went on the porch real quick he flew in the house. I didn’t see him because he flew above my head and it was pouring so loudly I didn’t hear him either… Smh

In any event, my boring nails today needed that crazy story!

I painted “Zoya – Charisma” on my ring fingers as an accent and “Sally Hanson – Mint Sorbet” on the rest. 🙂

Makeup.com Blog Feature

Friday Night, Kristen Oldham Giordani an L.A. based beauty editor and writer for Makeup.com, contacted me and wanted to feature my Blog and this look for her weekly column there!

I am so happy and honored that she liked my look enough to want to share it with more people from their website and her column. I have created a link to the article here.

Thank you so much Kristen!

Here is another peek at that days Challenge for those of you that missed it 🙂

Inspiration from a Song: This challenge was so fun, to try to think of different songs for inspiration, I love music, all different genres from all different eras. 🙂 My inspiration was “Neon Trees – Animal”  and the look is Neon Animal print.

The polishes I chose for this were: “China Glaze – Pink Voltage (neon)” and “Zoya – Charisma” for me left hand with “Sinful Colors – Blackest Black”. My Right hand was “OPI – Fly (Nicki Minaj collection)” with “Essie – Vermillionaire” and “Blackest Black” I used “nail-aid – Peeling Nail” as a base and then white as a wonderful tip from  Nicole 🙂 I also am now a “Seche Vite addict” I bought a sample of this at Image Beauty last week and it is amazing! It dries so fast! Way faster than the drying drops!!

Can I just say, before I show you the polishes, and the final look how hard it was to try to capture the neon and brightness of these colors!! 😦 They are much brighter in person.

And here are a few different views of the finished look 🙂

Day 20 Water Marbled Nails – 31Challenge

**Caution Picture Heavy **

Wednesday morning, just like any other day, we are getting ready to leave for work. I am taking my dogs down the basement to their kennels and I busted my butt halfway down the stairs.. Ugh! Apparently the dust pan fell down from the hook on the inside of the basement door wall and down I went. I slammed my hand into the concrete wall trying to break my fall. Yes, I cried like a baby, and hey rightfully so, I made three pretty deep “holes” on my knuckles. I am pretty sure I saw muscle, or something very white. 😦 Don’t worry I will save you from a picture of that ! This was probably the only day I was not wearing heels which is unusual for me, and I am extremely thankful, whew. Anyway that is why I have been lacking with the posts this week. My right hand has been extremely sore and it’s been hard to do this next challenge with my that being said. 😦 but I am back! 🙂

I attempted the Water marbling Challenge twice this week, once on Tuesday and I was just not happy with it, and then today, which came out better but it could still use some improvement. I feel that this is a challenge that definitely takes some practice.

I looked up numerous tutorials, none in particular to post here, Some people put tape on their fingers, some put vaseline. Some used white as a base, some used a nude, and some used a flat color. I chose white.

I chose a few different purples for the Marble look, I wanted each nail to look unique. I used “Zoya – Charisma”, “Milani – White”, “OPI – Grape, Set, Match”, “Nicole by OPI – Back to Reality…TV”, “Ulta – Celebutante”, “Nail-aid Peeling Nail” as a base, and “Looks Wet, Ultra High Gloss Top coat by inm nails”

I started out with my thumb and the heart look, however this was the only nail that I was able to get a good heart out of, please see two fail heart nails 😦

The rest of my nails, I just alternated the colors and kept swirling until I had a design I liked. Even with the tape, there was still quite a bit of clean up, more than I am used to. This was a fun challenge, but as I said definitely one that takes practice.

Here are both hands prior to clean up:

And here are the individual nails up close like above:

Hope you enjoyed my second attempt at Water Marbled Nails, Attempt one will not be shown. lol Not on purpose either! I meant to take a picture before I took them off to show you, however halfway into taking off the polish I realised I never took a picture; by that point my left hand was nude and my right hand was all choppy from holding the nail polish remover pads. Sorry Guys!

Day 19 Galaxies – 31Challenge

**Picture Heavy**

This Challenge made me feel like I was listening to the open credits/narration of the Twilight Zone. 🙂

I used This Tutorial as a guide for my Galaxy nails and it was very helpful! I  also did a  picture tutorial below. I absolutely loved doing this challenge, not only did it dry super quick because you are sponging, but you don’t have to be perfect on each nail. Part of the look is the blending and making each nail look like parts of the galaxy.

Polishes you will need: a Base Coat, a Top Coat, Black, Blue, Yellow, White, Purple and a glittery Top coat.

I used, L to R, “OPI- Top Coat” “Zoya – Charisma”, “Essie – Aruba Blue” , “Sinful Colors – Black on Black” , “Ulta – Cream of the Crop” , “Essie – Shrine of the Tides” and “Milani – white” and lastly I used my “Sally Hanson – White Nail Art Pen”(not shown “Nail-aid Peeling Nail” as a base)

Once my base coat was applied, per the tutorial, I painted one coat of  my “Black on Black”. Once that was dry, I ripped up a make up triangle sponge into 3-4 pieces. I put a few drops of “Milani – white” on a paper plate and dipped it in long ways, and once dabbing off the little extra made a line diagonally on each nail. This doesn’t have to be perfect, in fact you want it a little un-even and spread out so that it will show when you sponge the other colors.

The next step is to do the same thing but with yellow, put a strip of yellow in middle of the white.

Next you do same step as 1 & 2 but with purple, I chose the “Zoya – Charisma” as its brighter and kind of neon to add some vibrance. With the purple you do the same thing by using a sponge piece on the long end but this time you go down the diagonal line on either side just outside the white and kind of blend in.

The next step was blue, and again I used a shinier, blue to add more depth, my “Essie – Aruba Blue” with this one you can use a corner or a line again from the sponge but this time you just dab in all areas to add some blue to the “sky”

Next is your stars, you make different size dots, for this I added another drip of my white polish and used a toothpick, also used the Nail Art Pen for some.

Lastly you add a shimmery overlay. I used my “Essie  Shrine of the Tides” In the tutorial she used an opaque purple glitter polish. Beware, I have sponged polish all over my fingers, not pretty! 🙂

This is a picture of all cleaned up and out in the sun:

This is a picture of all cleaned up inside same lighting as used for rest of pictures:
