TLR – All that glitters IS gold

Hey There! This month’s TLR pick was Siobhan’s and she chose gold for our color collab post. Anyone that knows me knows I am usually a hater of gold, however V is the ultimate gold lover. She is slowly turning me on to more and more gold looks, but shh don’t tell her I said that.

I have a couple of different options but I wasn’t sure what I wanted to go with for this look. I ended up with my least favorite of the Nordic Collection which is Opi with a nice Fin-nish. This is a very ‘pearly’ gold if you will with hints of bronze not straight gold. I usually hate those types of finishes where you can see every brush stroke and this is of course no exception! LOL! I decided to gradient Cirque’s Trousseau and with that I now absolutely love it! Who’da thunk? My mani started to look very fall like so I then took my new MoYou stamp Mother Nature Plate 07 and Sally Hansen’s Forbidden fudge and added a leaf accent to each nail.

This is for you V, I hope it’s gold enough for ya 😉

IMG_7060Here is an angle picture so you can see the change and it’s a little more vibrant with the leaves

IMG_7061Lastly, this picture is a little dark but again shows the vibrancy of all colors together I absolutely love this color combo.

IMG_7064Well there is my gold mani, I don’t do em often so this shows how much I love V that I went this Gold. lol

On a side note, today as many of you know not just in the US but the rest of the world today is 9/11. Especially those of you in the US I’m sure remember exactly where you were and what you were doing this day 13 years ago, so it seems almost silly to say ‘never forget’ none of us ever will. Today though, even more so, try to remind yourself of everything you have, be grateful, call a loved one and tell them you love them, do a pay it forward deed today. Say a prayer for or just honor those that lost their lives by living yours to the fullest and being thankful that we live in a free country, as there are many that lost their lives since that day, both Military and civilians trying to keep our country safe and free. ❤

The Lacquer Ring – Chartreuse

So this month it’s Jess from Once Upon a Polish’s turn, for our color she chose chartreuse. I am personally not a big fan of this color.. lol I had to improvise. The closest I have to chartreuse was OPI’s Did it on em, because this is such an ugly color, again sorry Jess.. lol I decided that it reminded me of the 70’s. I chose to make my nails look like a 70’s couch or pants. I stamped Cirque’s Mink using my plaid stamp as well as Avon’s Saturn using the same stamping plate, just stamping it over the brown.

Here is my inspiration lol

So there you have it, there’s my nails for our Chartreuse collab. It’s not that I hate this color.. its more that I think it looks terrible on my nails with my skin tone, okay and maybe a little that I hate it lol.

Here are the other Lacquer Ring manis- keep checking back as we might have some late posts 🙂

Stay tuned, in two weeks will be her pick for our nail art theme 🙂

Don’t forget to check out my blog sale, just sold a few things so I updated the page.

NOTD 173 – Crimson Tattoo

So technically I cheated… This was supposed to be Friday’s Featured Color Friday. Instead when I got my 7 ILNP pretties in I couldn’t resist and needed to try them right away and so I am posting this late. The rest of my ILNP pretties will be upcoming. What I am wearing on my nails right this minute will be this weeks Featured Color.

I painted two coats of Jessica’s Crimson Tattoo and stamped a rose design from my PUEEN22 stamp. My ring finger I did the opposite, two coats of Ulta’s Snow white and Crimson stamped rose design. Crimson Tattoo is a deep vampy red color so on the white nail you can see what one coat would look like; although one coat was kind of streaky so it really needs the two coats.

So, another reason that I was so eager to change this mani on Friday and not keep it on long was that I wasn’t crazy about it 😦 I really love Crimson Tattoo I do, it was something about the color combo or this stamp that I was just not crazy about. (we all have those manis right)

Well what do you think, am I crazy or do you agree with me?

NOTD 102 – Featured Color Friday – ‘Flesh & Blood’

This Friday’s feature is “Deborah Lippmann – New flesh” from the True Blood collection and “Jessica – Crimson Tattoo”. The mani started out as a play on the “new flesh”, I wanted to use a blood-red color for stamp and it turned literal……

The other night started out as any normal Wednesday night, we ate dinner, watched some TV, etc. Tempest my ‘daughter’ who is a hybrid, wolf-husky and an extremely picky eater, decided she didn’t want her dinner.  Instead of sending her to bed hungry I decided, 10 o’clock last night, to go throw on a frozen hamburger to add to her food, for her to eat… I got out a knife to pry the stuck patties apart when… SLICE!  Right through my thumb…

Once we slowed the bleeding and could get a good look at it to could determine it needed professional attention, we went to the E.R. (I should add I have never been in a hospital for my own treatment, never broken any bones, never cut myself to the point where I needed stitches… so yeah, it freaked me out a little…)

The doctor advised that I had two options: it was definitely bad enough for stitches but he didn’t want me to have to go through the trauma if he could “glue” it. Sounds fun right?  So he glued me and broke open the cut and I started to bleed all over again, but it finally stopped.  They wrapped me up and put a splint to keep the finger immobile so I don’t break open the glue.  All fixed up, I finally returned home around 3AM.

As you can see my idea of the play on ‘blood’ to go with my new polish “new flesh” turned literal, lol.

When I went to the E.R. that night I had just “new flesh” on and I hadn’t done the stamps yet.  I did the stamps on Thursday, so they are far from perfect, hence the lack of pictures.

(Oh, and getting showered & ready today one-handed was… well, interesting. 🙂 )

Here is “new flesh” as is. It’s well… “fleshy”. lol

NOTD 86 – Gettin’ Cheeky

I know, I know, it’s been a while again.. 😦 well I have gotten some fabulous things in the past few days to tell you about!! My mama went to Amazon and ordered me the new Cheeky plate set, that came in the other day… I picked up the Color Club Pop Color set at Ross for $7.99!!! and My glequins came in from Ebay, woohoo!

This mani started out disastrous, it was one of those manis like, “why do I keep adding things” but I ended up liking it! 😀 I used “OPI – Russian Navy” which is a gorgeous deep blue, with I think, hints of a deep purple.Wwith this color, I feel like you need two coats but when you do two coats it looks super dark and not as much depth to it. I then used “Essie’s – Blue Rhapsody” as my stamping color which I think brings out a lot more of “Russian Navy’s” vibrance. The place I used was Cheeky plate “CH52” with my blue glequins that matched “Blue Rhapsody” almost perfectly!

Step 1: Base Coat

Step 2: Two coats of “Russian Navy”

Step 3: Once FULLY dry, Stamp Cheeky Plate CH52 onto all nails.

Step 4: Paint a diagonal french effect with either a brush or the brush from the polish bottle of Russian Navy (one nail)

Step 5: While Russian Navy is still somewhat dry, using a brush,(toothpick, whatever you want to grab with) dip into clear polish and pick up glequin. Place desired amount of glequins, in desired pattern; I followed the diagonal tip.

Step 6: Repeat steps 4 and 5 for remainder of nails

Step 7: Top coat.

Here is the finished look

So what do you think?

NOTD – 65 Deutche you just love it

Friday is finally here and so is the end of Summer! This weekend is Labor Day weekend, which means that it’s the unofficial end to Summer in the US, even though technically the first day of Fall technically isn’t until September 22nd. In any event I am more than excited and with that have another fab mani for you (or at least I hope you think it’s fabulous too) lol 😀

I used a fall color “OPI’s – Deutche You Want Me Baby” and “OPI’s – Russian Navy” for the stamps. This is my transition mani, I have Fall colors and then Summery stamps.

I even have my Butterfly accessories on today:

NOTD 45 – Happy Ending Shrinkage

ahaha! Now that I have your attention, here is today’s NOTD.

I have entitled this NOTD as I used “Sinful Colors – Happy Ending” and I had some shrinkage going on from Seche Vite. This is the first time this has happened to me. 😦 Everyone always talks about it and I had never experienced it, until now 😦 (see pinky finger in picture).

The colors used in this mani were the “Sinful Colors – Happy Ending” and “Essie’s Aruba Blue” for a stamp design. I then applied a goldish little bead in the center of the flowers. My thumbs which are not shown because I was bad and have been chomping! Shriek! ( I have had a bad weekend – start of the week ) I put a few of the flowers off centered like I did my big toe in this post. along with the goldish beads in the ones that had centers.

I am getting better with the stamps, not too many issues with these, had to do some touch ups with a teeny brush, other than that I am in love with this mani and the colors. The Sinful colors polish was hard to capture, the flash kept going off and I felt that it made the colors almost look like I had a matte top coat. See the shrunken pinky picture for the best acurate depiction of the green color, love this color!
