The Lacquer Ring – Stars

It’s Lacquer Ring time again!

First, I will tell you about my carpet debacle this weekend… So my brother in law and his fiance’ are coming home for Christmas. She has never seen my collection and most people who haven’t seen it are intrigued, and of course I’m proud of it. lol  So I have some minor spills on the carpet around my polish shelf (in the closet of the guest bedroom) So I took it upon myself to try to clean it off so the house would look nice for them.  Well after about a bottle of nail polish remover later, the stains are still there… and the whole upstairs smelled so bad that if you lit a match you might blow up. It was god awful!!! I shampooed the rug 3x nothing was making this smell better, I dumped baking soda directly on the carpet hoping to absorb some of the smell, nada.  Eventually almost 4 days later the smell is gone, but if you sit on the floor you can still smell it when you are closer to the carpet…  smh

I have been totally neglecting my nails as I have been spackling, painting, cleaning, the whole nine yards in order to prepare for our family coming for Christmas. Winter of course is about THE worst time to do that so naturally my hands are so dry. 😦 I also have not been keeping up with my Nail Envy as I have only been painting my nails for TLR’s so I had my pinky and pointer finger on my ‘model hand’ break and my thumb on the other hand! Tragedy!!

Alright, well enough about my craziness, because I am sure we are all going through this, it is after all the Holidays!

Lesley as you know chose this month’s prompt, She chose ‘Magenta-ish’ nails for our color theme and now the theme is Stars.  I have this awesome Star stamp on one of my 80’s MoYou Stamps that I just knew I had to use!

I started out with Philly Loves Lacquer’s Hope is an Option. I then used ILNP’s Metropolis flakie with two coats. I stamped using Essie’s Nothing Else Metals.

I did a plan on ‘star’ for my pinky. Per my last TLR I said I had to to Hello Kitty themed nails in some way as Lesley and I both share our obsession for Hello Kitty. I have a giant plate of all kinds of HK Stamps and on there is a Lady Gaga Hello Kitty. Of course Lesley loves her to, so Win!  I stamped this using Zoya’s Savita

I have to say how much I love these Flakies!  think I got 7 or 8. So far I used the Blue and this one and I love them both! I just love how the flakies just peek through but you can still see how awesome they are!

Stamping Saturdays #fightforlightandlive

Hey guys! It’s Stamping Saturday! Feels like forever since I’ve done this since I missed last weeks! Don’t worry I haven’t forgotten to do my CND Vinylux review I’ve just been busy since we got back from vacation working on the new blog. Have you checked out the new Facebook page? Also if you notice I got my own dot com, revamped the layout and Esther and I worked on creating my very own custom Header for both! (She’s really reasonable if you are in the market for one yourself or any other graphic needs!) I’m so excited! 😀

I got some stuff over at Lacquer Me Silly’s Blog Sale and I think my favorite thing that I got was a special surprise pick from Frosso herself (I think Margo really picked it out) 😉 It’s KB Shimmer’s The Dancing Green! Wait till you see how gorgeous it is! This polish couldn’t have come at a better time! 🙂

With the sudden loss of America’s beloved Robin Williams there is finally more light being shown on Mental Health of all kinds. It hits very close to home for me as several very close family members suffer from different types of depression. On FB and Instagram there is a green mani day to show your support and help raise awareness for Depression/Mental Health. You can see the details here. My hope is that people suffer from depression seek help. It is so hard sometimes to realize how bad your depression has gotten the deeper you go, just remember you always have support and there is NO shame in seeking help! PLEASE DO!

 

My Mental Health Awareness mani for #fightforlightandlive is one light coat of Milani’s Fresh teal with two coats of KB Shimmer’s The Dancing Green. I also stamped PUEEN41 using Sephora Formula X’s Pedal to the Medal

The Lacquer Ring – Orange

Today is the day! Our first group post in our newest project. This month Nicole from Polish Me, Please is in charge of picking our challenge and first up are Orange manis. We have all done different orange manis for you today.

For me, I think I finally got this whole gradient thing down.. either that or I just got lucky. I did two coats of Jessica’s Tangerine Dreamz (which before I continue I need to say that I really think this Jessica Gelato Mio collection might be my favorite collection of maybe all time.. ) The orange gradients in to Avon’s Cosmic Saturn. I then stamped using OPI’s 4 in the Morning and MoYou’s stamp Back to the 80’s – 04

Quick NOTD

I was able to schedule my Stamping Saturday look before my trip but didn’t have time to do Textured Tuesday this week. 😦 Don’t forget to check out Amy’s blog for everyone elses look.

I did these nails at my sister’s I used Essie’s no prenup as a base, one coat. Then I painted free hand the diagonal blue shape using Salon Perfect Baby Blues. Once fully dry I stamped the fish net design over the blue only using Sinful Colors Blackest Black, finally outlined it with the same black free-handed with a nail art brush.

I tried to get more pictures with my camera once I got home since this was taken with my phone, but it chipped just as I was going to, and I don’t have this blue 😦

So I did manage to, well my B-I-L and I managed to actually surprise my sister! 🙂 I had such a nice time spending it with the three of them even if only for a few days.

Stamping Saturdays – A little love

Another Stamping Saturday brought to you today, this time almost all the girls in our group were able to participate (links below)!! Valentine’s Day for me is special I have someone special to share it with. My husband and I have been together for 10 years this year so it’s an extra special Valentine’s day. 🙂 I am starting off some Valentine’s Day nails today with a glitter gradient, stamped heart look, check it out 🙂

This is two coats of Nubar’s Spirit Walker and Ulta’s Tink-her-bell as the gradient  glitter, the stamp is Essie’s The Lace is on.

So there you have it, my glitter gradient, lovey mani. lol 🙂

Stamping Saturdays – Pupper Biscuit

So our new pupper is 3 months old now! I can’t even believe it! She is getting so big, so quickly! Needless to say life has been crazy with the three of them now so I have not been on top of my posts like my Featured Color Friday. 😦

I did this mani when we first got her and thought it would be perfect to go hand in hand with this special post. This is such a special post because it was my two-year Blog Anniversary the other day!!!

This is two coats of Butter London Disco Biscuit and I stamped Ulta Snow White pupper prints on them.

Disco Biscuit is not only gorgeous but it was a gift from a very dear friend, Theresa!

NOTD 87 – Fall leaves

The weather here in NJ has been crazy weird… First we had Hurricane Sandy which was not fun, lots and lots of heavy rain, harsh winds, and cold air. Then last week it went back up to the 60’s and 70’s, last night went down to the 30’s and this week back to the 50’s… it’s very consistent as you can see, not much of a fall 😦 which sucks because that is my favorite season.

For this fall mani, I used two coats of “China Glaze – Agro” overtop base coat, you can probably get away with one coat if you are careful but I still had some see through spots as I did it thin, so I ended up with two coats. I used “Essie – Penny Talk” for the leaves with “Cheeky Plate CH33” For whatever reason this plate has dots on the leaves, I want a tree that has polka dots on the leaves!!! lol anyway I felt the stamp needed something more so those spots I dotted with “Sally Hanson – Forbidden Fudge”

NOTD 58 – Stamp and Frame!

Stamping and Framing in the same mani? Yep you  heard me right. I tried both whole nail stamping and I took a stab at the framing mani. I used two coats of “OPI – Pompeii Purple” and then did the full stamp with “China Glaze – Liquid Leather” then the framing in the same color. I thought that the pink would pop through the black a little more than it did, but you can still see the shimmer and shine of the pink through it just not as much as I would have liked. Ah well, another learning experience.. maybe I am just being too critical of myself, plus I am hating how short they are, but I don’t really love this mani; but hey first full stamping and framing, I didn’t do too bad, just need some more practice 🙂
