The Lacquer Ring – Aztec Nails

Hey there, long time no see. I have a whole folder of un-shown looks for you. Today we delayed our TLR looks from Thursday to now. In honor of Jess whose too busy for us hehe just kidding she works A LOT we did these nails for her this month. 🙂

First I painted Morgan Taylor My Carriage awaits. Once dry I used striping tape and did opposite triangles and filled it in with China Glaze Too Yacht to Handle. Once super dry I did my Aztec stamp using the triangle the opposite side using MoYou’s Pro Collection-02

71pu8K01jvL__SL1336_I then decided I felt like my look needed to be matte, I used OPI’s matte top coat and waited like 975283798273489 hours for it to dry. LOL Does anyone else have this problem? What I did as a trick, and maybe everyone already knows about this, I did a thin layer of my Seche Vite as that is lightening fast, and in about ten minutes just to be sure I used the matte topper. I went to bed about a half hour later and it worked! no sheet marks like every other time I’ve used matte yay!

Here’s my take on Aztec nails, whatdya think?

Well there ya have em, what do you think of my Aztec nails?

Stamping Saturday – Elsa nails

Today I am going to the Philadelphia flower show. The theme is celebrate the movies inspired by the films of Disney and Disney/Pixar. As you know since there was so much hype over Frozen you KNOW there will be some Frozen displays. This gives me a chance to use my polish I got over Christmas!

So before you get scared, no I did not do full-on Elsa nails.. BUT I am going to bombard you with Elsa images, etc to set the tone since Frozen is literally EVERYWHERE!

I got Different Dimensions No one Elsa but you. It’s a holographic silvery blue polish with added shimmers, microglitters and real sterling silver flakies (direct from Different Dimensions website). I then did an accent nail using Orly’s Sweet Peacock and stamped a snowflake using Essie’s Blue Rhapsody.

Are you ready for Frozen overload? Here goes….

This went perfectly with Orly’s Peacock I really think that the vibrant shiny blue really brought out the shimmer and holo-ness that is this gorgeous Elsa color and visa versa. What do you think?

Stamping Saturday – Let it Snow

despicablememinion

Whaaaaaatttt? It’s Stamping Saturday and I have a look for you? Yes I do. I know it’s been about forever since the last time I did Stamping Saturday, but I am trying to participate more again! 🙂

It’s snowing, yet again, it’s beyond freezing, yet again, it’s NJ and it sucks, as always… so I have a snowflake mani.

animated_snow_flakes_snow_storm

For this mani I desperately wanted to use my flakies, since they are really just a top coat unless you do multiple coats, I painted one thin coat of Julep’s Emma to give it that frost look. I then did one coat of ILNP’s Cold Fusion. My accent finger I did two coats of China Glaze’s Resolution, once all dry I stamped different snowflakes using Essie’s Blue Rhapsody.

I love how Cold Fusion shifts from cobalts to emerald greens. These flakies are the best thing ever I’m in love.

As one of the Stamping Saturday Founders I really should be doing this every Saturday with the girls but I’ve been slacking, 😦 we’ve welcomed so many new girls and new looks each week with us. If you love stamping and would like to join us, please do!!

The Lacquer Ring – Purple

So I had a post all planned out, I was going to paint my nails using this gorgeous holo glitter that Lesley gave me and no such luck.. So I was going to paint my nails last night with it, I know last minute.. serves me right. Well all of the sudden we had noticed that the floor in our Laundry Room was wet and my washer had been leaking. We moved the middle ‘agitator’ and the drum had water under it.. what the pluck. So we have been having a lot of issues with it and it’s capacity so this morning we bought a new washer dryer set because our dryer has been going as well. In any event I forgot to do my damn nails so I am cycling an old post that I never posted that’s why I have a leaf stamped.. lol

This Month Cynthia is back up from Of Life and Lacquer and first up for color she chose purple. This is Figgy Pudding by Smitten Polish. This was part of their Christmas/Winter Collection and was seriously my favorite Holiday Collection and this my favorite color of all of the collections I got. Believe me, I got quite a few collections around that time. lol

Smitten’s website describes this Jem as a purple jelly base filled with subtly shifting reddish bronze flakies and shimmer. With that I decided to use Essie’s Penny Talk to stamp a leaf as an accent on one of my nails I figured it would really make the flakes pop and I think that’s true.  Although with or without this stamp the flakes pop and are gorgeous on their own too.

IMG_2462IMG_2460IMG_2458Isn’t it amazing! This is one of those colors that has bumped it’s way to my top faves. 🙂

Don’t forget to check out the other gals in their TLR Thursday this Month!

Stamping Saturday – I mustache you a question..

In case you don’t know November has been dubbed Movember in order to promote awareness to Men’s Health.

The Movember Foundation aims to change this way of thinking by putting a fun twist on this serious issue. Using the moustache as a catalyst, the idea is to bring about change and give men the opportunity and confidence to learn and talk about their health and take action when needed.

As a global men’s health movement, the Movember Foundation has the ambition to contribute to improving the lives of men around the world. To achieve this, we challenge men to grow moustaches during Movember (the month formerly known as November) to spark conversation and raise funds for prostate cancer, testicular cancer and mental health problems.  We see success as moving the dial on progress towards:
  • Reduced mortality from prostate, testicular cancer and men’s suicide
  • Men living with prostate or testicular cancer being physically and mentally well
  • Men and boys understanding how to be mentally healthy and taking action when they experience mental health problems
  • Men and boys with mental health problems not being discriminated against

More information on this cause and how to help can be found at us.movember.com

I have done my nails in support as well as have donated to my friend who is currently participating in Movember. Please do your part in showing support and/or donating this November and always.

If you don’t have someone you know participating yet and would still like to donate, I have attached a link to my friends page here.

For my Mustache look, I FINALLY got my Zoya mattes I have been drooling over for forever! I did two coats of Savita and topped it off with my MoYou Mustache stamp using Essie’s Nothing else metals. I absolutely love the look of the shiny staches over the matte purple. See for yourself!

Saturnalian

I have been slacking hardcore. I know, I know! I was just barely getting by with doing Stamping Saturdays and our #TLR The Lacquer Ring posts…. to now slacking even with the Stamping Saturdays. Life has just gotten to be too hectic. I haven’t even been checking out my girlfriend’s blogs, or anyones blogs for that matter, I just feel like in a slump. Just too much going on 😦

I got a new couch!! That doesn’t sound so exciting but it is for us lol we needed one BADLY! It’s fabulous! It’s a sectional with a chaise something we are not used to, never had this style couch but I am loving it more every day.   My girlfriend is teaching me how to crochet, so honestly a lot of my spare time has been devoted to practicing that and making different things. The last couple of things I have had on my nails were really good polishes so they held up almost a week at a time so I haven’t even been doing many manis :/    I can’t promise that I will be back as much as I used to but I will at least try to post once a week at least until things pick back up, it’s just so hard finding the time right now. I feel liek this happens every year right around the holidays.  I didn’t even get to do any PCOS/Ovarian Teal Ribbon nails in September 😦 Have no fear though I have a very special giveaway I have been holding on to this month! 😉

Alright well here are my super creepy long nails. I mean not super creepy to everyone (at least I hope not) just for me because my nails have NEVER been this long and it just got to be too long. The cut was well overdue. So this mani was from a couple of weeks ago prior to the cut. 🙂

This is two coats of Philly Loves Lacquer’s Saturnalian. It’s a gorgeous blue with grey scattered holos and rainbow micro glitters, also super high shine. How can you not go wrong! Saturnalian is a part of the Fancy Brigade Mummer’s line. If you are not familiar with the Mummers or Fancies she has some info about it under the polish description.

IMG_7068IMG_7072Gorgeous right?  You can purchase Philly Loves Lacquer polishes here. Although as I check on this it looks like she is currently sold out of this particular one right now 😦

So I leave you for now but will schedule out another post of my gorgeous and first ever Illamasqua!!! I LOVE it wait till you see this color. And of course don’t forget about the upcoming giveaway!

The Lacquer Ring – Supernatural

We’re back this time with Sib’s pick of a Supernatural theme which includes Mythological creatures such as mermaids, dragons, etc.  As soon as she said Supernatural she reminded me of the ones I did way back when during the Nail Challenge that I absolutely loved, so I brought those back too 🙂

thca3uic78img_0663img_0662

For today, I chose dragon scales. I used OPI’s Green on the Runway as the base. It’s got a gorgeous like green to brownish almost color changing to it which was perfect. Then I stamped the scales using a mixture of Cirque’s Erda and OPI’s OPI with a nice Fin-nish.

I tried to capture the color changing as best as I could.

IMG_7097 IMG_7096 IMG_7095

So there you have it. That’s my Supernatural look. What do you think of when you think of Supernatural or Mythological?

Stamping Saturday – Wildwoods by the Sea

My local peeps will love this theme and color! This weekend it’s Labor Day weekend here. I just got these GORGEOUS colors from Philly Loves Lacquer and I have one of them to show you today. As she is local her polish names are cool because you can relate to all of them. The inspiration for her to start her line was drawn by her fascination with the history and landmarks of the City she loved and she combined that along with her love for nail polish and voila Philly Loves Lacquer was born!

Today I have Wildwoods by the Sea. Everyone knows that in this area Wildwood is THE place to be during the summer. Especially this ‘last’ weekend, Labor Day weekend. Wildwood will be Packed to the core this weekend with anyone and everyone celebrating their last fun in ‘the sun weekend before the unofficial end to summer.

wildwood-sign-beach-balls

“Love those wild wild Wildwood days”

Wildwoods by the Sea is “is a creamy deep dark seafoam base with a strong scattered holographic finish” so in other words, stunning. Sticking to the theme I stamped some seashells using my MoYou plate and Essie’s Good as Gold. Here’s my ‘End of Summer, Wildwoods mani’

The Lacquer Ring – Striping tape mani

Cynthia picked Striping tape mani’s as our TLR nail art theme.

Ugg!! So I did my striping tape mani the other day and I hated the way it came out so I did it again and this time hated it even more! 😦 It’s crazy how the simplest things you would think would come out awesome, not in this case for me.

I used OPI glitter off base coat first because I wanted to use glitter texture polishes I figured I’d give that a shot. I painted one coat of Zoya’s Cosmo a glittery texture, and then I did stripes of Darling Diva’s Anna over that. Once dry I used various lines using striping tape and did one coat of Zoya Sunshine. As these are all mostly all texture polishes, as it dried I tried to flatten it a little if that makes sense so that it wasn’t too clumpy. I think it was just too much texture, I feel like it still looks too clumpy! 😦  I then took a few pictures of it with top coat just to see and I hated that even more ::sigh::

So unfortunately today you only get one picture and that’s of todays #TLR mani. My fail. 😦

IMG_7010

Well there you have it. Here is my TLR Striping tape mani. Don’t forget to check out the other girls and stop back for Stamping Saturday! I have new pretties coming in today and hopefully my new stamps will be in too 🙂

Fleur est Belle

Amy, Frosso, and I did some more polish destruction, as usual!

We went to International Playground and bought lots of goodies from Cirque. My favorite one I picked up was Fleur est Belle.  It’s a Jelly pink with gorgeous whites, golds, & pinks glitter flecks. I painted one coat over two thin coats of OPI’s I think in Pink. I then stamped some stars using Essie’s Good as Gold.

This is such a girly manicure I can’t even take it. I love it so much! What’s your favorite girlie polish?

The Lacquer Ring – Geometric

So like I said most of the girls were slackers.. LOL so you are seeing our Nail art challenge this week instead of last. As you read this I am driving to Maine to celebrate my 10th wedding Anniversary with my husband. They have an Annual ‘Lobsterfest’ among other fun things. From what we’ve heard, it’s absolutely stunning there, so I cannot wait to arrive.

I’ve been wanting a couple of the OPI Coca-Cola collection colors and after lots of searching finally got the ones I wanted. I got Today I Accomplished Zero and Green on the Runway.  Green on the Runway is absolutely stunning, its such a gorgeous green! This color is perfect for fall but I could not wait to use it.

Just as Chartreuse was Jess’s pick, the nail art challenge is hers too and she picked Geometric. I did two coats of Green on the runway and stamped Essie’s Good as Gold using my MoYou stamp. I hope this is geometric enough for ya Jess 😉

Well there you have it. Check out the other lacquer Ring girls for their take on geometric!

Stamping Saturdays – Leopard Lover

It’s Saturday again! Today I am going to a craft show with my mom to see my cousin who makes these amazing hand painted glasses. Then I am going out with my girlfriend to lunch and then to pick up my OPI’s waiting for me at my polish store, the green, silver, and black from the OPI Coca Cola collection! 🙂

Today I have a special gift from my girl V, Essence’s Me and my Lover. I stamped Essie’s Good as Gold overtop using my 80’s MoYou stamp and then painted China Glaze’s Liquid Leather in the spots.

IMG_6643

I only have one picture because I don’t really like it… this is the look I was going for sure but I am not sure I love the colors all together

Don’t forget to check out the other girls looks for Stamping Saturday!

Stamping Saturday – Bejewled Tiger

I absolutely love this MoYou stamp, I am using it again. I used it a few weeks ago when The Lacquer Ring brought you our first collab post and I did my orange nails . This is two coats of Cirque’s Bejeweled which I absolutely LOVE and I stamped China Glaze’s Liquid Leather with the stamp overtop. I love how the holo shows through it.

IMG_6642IMG_6640IMG_6638

That’s all I have today, quick post!

Stamping Saturday – Hololaceness

It’s Saturday again! If you haven’t noticed yet, I changed my nail shape. I swore I would never go this shape, but I did. I love my squoval but ::knock on wood:: my nails are stronger and not breaking this way!

When I went to NYC a few weeks ago with some of the Lacquer Ring girls I picked up gifts for my mom and sister at Cirque. I got them Cirque’s Xochitl, it’s this amazing purple holo. Since I haven’t seen my mom I decided to use it before I gave it to her hehe! I stamped a lace design over it using Sinful Colors black

IMG_3399IMG_3398IMG_3396

I have a giveaway coming up next week! Three winners!!

Check out the other girls Stamping Saturday look

Stamping Saturday – Jazzy Berry Swirl

As you read this, I am down the shore… or for those not on the East Coast ‘At the Beach’. That means I prepared in advance and did my post and had my nails ready! Wow that never happens anymore!

I got this gorgeous and my first ever Tip Top nails color from Siobhan called Jazz Berryblue. I love blues and she knows this, she is my polish twin we like a lot of the same colors and usually end up doing similar nails or colors often close together or at the same time. 🙂

Once I had two coats of Jazz Berryblue on, I used my MoYou stamping plate Sailor Collection-07 and Jessica’s Barely Blueberry for the swirls

IMG_3391IMG_3393

I don’t think that the link is available yet, but be sure to go on one of the other girls pages to see everyone’s Stamping Saturday look if I don’t get time to change and add it!

have a good weekend everyone!

The Lacquer Ring – Holographic Pink

We’re at it again, this time it was my turn to pick! For our color collaboration I asked the girls to do a Holographic Pink look, or as a last resort if they didn’t have a holo pink, I asked them to do a ‘bright ass pink’ look. hehe I am keeping the nail art collab a secret so hopefully the other girls don’t spill the beans. 🙂

As I mentioned in my other post Frosso from Lacquer me Silly, Amy from The Fancy Side, and I met up in NYC and did some damage with some new Cirque polishes! I had one I was gonna use but I decided to use the one I got that day since I got it with two of the TLR girls. I give you Cirque’s PowWow.

IMG_2474

I painted two coats of PowWow and stamped PUEEN37 using Darling Diva’s Diamond. I think this is like the third look I did with this silver holo, I’m in love but not as much as I am with this pink.

IMG_3381IMG_3383IMG_3386

I hope you enjoyed my color pick and make sure you check out the other girls pink looks.

Stamping Saturday – Aruba Diamonds

Sorry I’m late in posting again guys!! I met up with Frosso from Lacquer me Silly and Amy from The Fancy Side today for a little girls day out in NYC. We tore it up with some Cirque polishes which I can’t wait to show you!

IMG_2474

Today I have a mani using Darling Divas Diamond holo and stamped with a MoYou stamp using Aruba Blue. I don’t have too many pics as I only got to take a little before I left and it chipped already :/

IMG_3379Don’t forget to check out the other girls Stamping Saturday looks!

Ill be back this week with some of my new polishes to show you! 🙂

Stamping Saturday – May Flowers

It’s that time again, another edition of Stamping Saturday. I absolutely love the Spring and the Fall. What I love most about Spring are all of my flowers, shrubs, etc blooming and sprouting again, and all of the pretty insects that come along with Spring. You can have your mosquitos though.. lol

Today in honor of Spring since we had such a wacky winter here in NJ, I have a flower mani. I’m going to be honest though, I don’t like it… :/ I don’t know if it’s the color scheme or what but I’m not a fan and these will be coming off very shortly.. lol

I used two coats of Jessica’s Strawberry Shake it for the base. The purple flowers are using stamp Red Angel RA-308 and OPI’s Planks A lot, the pink ones are using Venique’s Flip Flop to the Beach. The other nails with the vines I used the same stamping plate and the green is Orly’s Lucky Duck with the same two flower colors just alternating. The center yellow was Zoya’s Darcy.

Picture 193

So what do you think? Any big plans this weekend?

Don’t forget this Thursday is the Lacquer Ring’s first bi-weekly challenge.

Here are the other girls Stamping Saturday looks

NOTD – Tangerine Easter Beanz

Whoa, I know I am posting in the middle of the week, can you believe it! I’ve been so busy posting for our weekly Stamping Saturday is about all I’ve been able to handle. I’ve painted my nails and have lots of looks to show you.

Today I have some Easter nails for you using Jessica Banana Peel and Tangerine Dreamz. I stamped Catrice’s Heavy Metallilac  using plate Wistonia W212.

I still need some help from Cynthia on the gradient, but I think it turned out okay… what do you think?

Picture 186Picture 187Picture 184

I wanted my nails to resemble when you are dying eggs and you dip one half the egg in one color and the other in another, I somewhat achieved my look. I’m not 100% sold on my gradient with this, it needs work.

I got this whole Jessica Gelato Mio set so I will be doing some other looks shortly with the other colors!! 🙂

See you Saturday for SS!

Stamping Saturdays – A Sailors Oasis

I know I am late the rest of the girls have their SS looks up already, but I'm here, I have mine!! Busy, but awesome day today!

I did two coats of Essie’s Find me an Oasis and then stamped Orly’s Sweet Peacock using my new MoYou plates. I used The Sailor Collection plate 7. 🙂

I absolutely love how light and springy Find me an Oasis is, the metallicy blue of Sweet Peacock just pops on top of it, its pretty amazing… lolPicture 142
