NOTD 175 – Frosty the SNOWman

HAPPYYYY BIRTHDAYYYY!!!

Remember the Nail art Challenge I told you I was entering, well this is my first entry. (CLICK HERE TO VOTE) (voting ends Saturday the 30th I believe).  The first week’s theme was ‘snow’ I have a thing for snowmen, a lot of my Christmas decorations are snowmen or snow related. Frosty was always one of my favorite Christmas movies as a kid, who am I kidding, even as an adult… 🙂 so it was only fitting that I find a way to incorporate him in to my theme.

I painted all of my nails with two coats of Revlon – Blizzard Blue. For my pointer and pinky finger I used a snow flake stamp and stamped Essie – Aruba Blue, Essie – No place like chrome, ILNP – Indie Go, and Ulta – Snow White. For my Frosty nail I used Ulta Snow White, Barry M – Gray for his hat, China Glaze – Liquid Leather for the rim of his hat, and Loreal – Captivating Crimson for his nose. For Frosty’s scarf I used Wet N Wild Spoiled – Designated Driver and Ruffian – Foxhunt, for his flower I used Revlon Blizzard blue and Darling Diva’s Peonie, and for his pipe I used Sally Hansen’s Forbidden Fudge. Lastly for my snowy tree nail, I used Sally Hansen Forbidden Fudge, and Ulta – Snow White.

NOTD 172 – Featured Color Friday – Northern Lights @ILNPBrand

It’s finally Friday, this was a long week but a good one! I got to spend a decent amount of time with my sister and my nephew but now I am sad it’s over, she heads home tomorrow morning 😥

I had gotten an email from I Love NP about 2 weeks ago maybe longer about a new line that she was coming out with. I loved just about every one of them but I had to control myself! I picked out 5 of the pre-order polishes and if you purchased three you got another special polish, I then also ordered Northern Lights which I have for you today. I absolutely love all of the colors that I chose but this one is definitely my favorite of the bunch see for yourself.

The website describes Northern Lights as “a wonderful duochrome nail polish with dark purple and navy blue hues.” This color is so stunning, I just have no words, I tried very hard to capture the dark purple hue but it’s very hard, it even looks greenish in some lights. See for yourself.

Picture right from ILNP site.

I painted two coats of Northern Lights and using Essie’s There’s no place like Chrome, I stamped this design using PUEEN14 stamp. Here is the final result:

This was a couple of different angles and lighting, in person you can definitely see that in some lights it almost looks greenish and you can see the very subtle purple undertone.

So what did you think? Did you pick up any of ILNP’s latest line (coming out November 22nd for those of you that did not get the pre-sale)

NOTD 150 – Featured Color Saturday – Super Nova

Sorry guys for the delay on not posting ‘FCF’ on Friday this week. I had some uploading issues Friday with my post. I tried to take the pictures with my phone but you just couldn’t see the gorgeous shimmer well enough 😦

This weeks color is also part of the “Avon Cosmic Collection” and its called ‘Super Nova’. Just like ‘Moonbeam’ the shimmer is never-ending and simply stunning. I used “Essie – no place like chrome” with the heart stamp from ‘OB3o”

Lastly, I leave you with my new friend 🙂 The other night when I took the dogs out before bed there was a tree frog on the door and I picked em up and put him back in the garden with the plants and trees 😀

NOTD 148 – Patriotic Wednesday

Happy Hump Day!

So this week I am not going to do a ‘Featured Color Friday’ Instead, a Patriotic Wednesday because of the way the holiday falls. I will have another post by Saturday most likely. My work is closed on Friday too this year, woohoo!

I started out by painting my nails with two coats of “Ulta – Snow White” and planned on doing a splatter mani using “Essie – Aruba Blue” and “Julep – Glenn” I have only done the splatter once and unfortunately this time it did not work out in my favor. However, fortunately… that it did not as I came up with the idea to use some of my stamps for some more double stamping. I used “Essie’s – No place like chrome” to create the fireworks in the background. I then took ‘Glenn’ and ‘Aruba Blue’ and used pieces of stamps to make the different size stars and place them accordingly.

Here is the final result. (Lots of pictures because I LOVE this mani) 😀

NOTD 110 – Featured Color Friday – Suri

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, so I will do a few Valentine’s themed nails. Today I started out by featuring Suri and turned it into the theme.

I got “Zoya – Suri” a few weeks ago during the ‘Zoya 3 promo’. I painted two thin coats of “OPI – Nail Envy” as my base, (which I am loving so far by the way!!), then two thin coats of “Zoya – Suri”. Once try, on both my ring and pointer fingers on both hands, I stamped using “Essie – No place like Chrome” and my “Cheeky Stamp -CH53” to stamp the beating hearts.

This purple is gorgeous, you can see especially in this picture the multiple facets to it, some blue and some pink very, very fine shimmer to make the purple pop even more.

NOTD 88 – Interlocking Red Dotticure

Nicole over at  Polish Me, Please has been doing these adorable Interlocking Dotticures and I decided to do one. 😀 I did a half-moon, interlocking dotticure. My first attempt, on my left hand the dots were too small and I didn’t think it looked right, so for this mani you get to see my right hand.. lol usually my left hand is my ‘model hand’.

The colors I used were “Essie – No Place Like Chrome” and “China Glaze – Adventure Red-y”

So what do you think of this look have you tried it yet?

NOTD 84 – Purple nails for Epilepsy Awareness

This Saturday I will be walking in the 5k Epilepsy Awareness walk in my area. I believe this is the fifth year we have done this. A very young family member was suffering very badly with seizures., he went through a lot, brain surgeries, extreme meds, etc. He is a strong little boy and has thankfully been over a year seizure free to date. I decided to do some Epilepsy Awareness nails in honor of the walk and the boy whom the organization is based upon as he has unfortunately passed away since last years walk. For more information on the cause and more on the Clayton’s Hope Organization click here.

I painted one coat of “Essie’s – No Place Like Chrome” once dry, used some nail strips. I don’t know if you can tell the subtle difference or not, but my ring and pointer finger the stripes are a little further apart from the other three nails which are closer together. The purple overtop is “Milani 3D Holographic -514 Hi Res”

HMOTD – 1 Spiderwebs

OCTOBER IS HERE!! woohoo! Today is the first day of October, there are 30 days to Halloween, it’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month( I will be wearing my pink ribbon pin every day and pink every friday!), it’s Pumpkin Spice coffee time. ❤

Today is the first edition of the Halloween Mani’s of the Day (HMOTD) (I will try to do every 2-3 days sometimes sooner depending on my schedule) 😀 This is “Liquid Leather by China Glaze” topped with one coat of “Sinful Colors – Call you later” I used “Essie – No place like chrome” for the spiderweb stamp and then added a black gem to represent a spider 😀

So I like this mani much better, I wasn’t sure about putting black on so soon, I mean I know it’s fall just felt like it’s not really color out yet, I feel that black is a deep fall winter color. I usually don’t mind too much with that, If I feel like wearing the color, I will but something just felt weird about putting on black, are you guys like that with some colors, or am I just crazy?! lol Anyway I really liked how the green sparkle kind of made the black appear as a deep green sparkle color. I have said it before and I will say it again, I absolutely love the “Essie Chrome collection” as stamping polishes! No doubt.

*Side note rant* I cannot find the e.l.f. Disney Villians collection! It says Limited Edition Walgreen’s only collection, guess what, I did a search on eyeslipsface.com and none of my Walgreen’s in my state are selling it! Poo!!

NOTD 73 – “Why so Igneous”

Today is Cynthia’s Birthday so make sure you stop by and wish her a Happy Birthday! For todays NOTD, I have a GORGEOUS topper called “Why So Igneous by Hare Polish” I first saw this swatched on Tara’s blog and just had to have it! This is a gorgeous very jelly purple with green and purple flakes. I love how toppers look so different over every color. I ended up with it over “Essie – No Place like Chrome” I cannot wait to put it over black or orange for Halloween.

While we are on the subject, with October approaching very quickly now is the time to announce that I will be doing Halloween manis all month. Halloween is my absolute favorite time of the year, I am obsessed with “The Nightmare Before Christmas” and just about anything Tim Burton for that matter, so it only seems fitting that I do a whole month of  Halloween manis!

Anyway back to the polish and how awesome it looks over different polishes, here are a few examples:

It looks gorgeous over every color, but I love it the most over the silver, it makes the silver look like a metallic purple under the topper, and simply fabulous over the black, those two are my favorite!

Since I am holding off on Halloween manis, I ended up with 2 coats of “Hare – Why So Igneous” overtop  2 coats of “Essie – No place like chrome” but here are two shots of it with one coat first.

Here is the final look with the two coats over two coats.

NOTD 60 – Gram’s Nails

My Gram (grandmother) is going down the shore this week for an end of summer vacation. She wanted me to do her nails “pretty” before she went. She knew she wanted flowers, so I brought all my flowers stamps and a few colors I thought she might like. She took one look at my new holo and wanted the same, “Jade – Vermehlo Surreal” She originally wanted this pretty peach over the Holo, but it wasn’t coming out so she chose the silver “Essie – There’s no Place like Chrome”. I stamped the flowers she chose and then she wanted the black rhinestones in the center.

I think they came out great and she seemed to love them too 😀 That holo is going to look awesome in the sun all week down the shore, Hope you have good weather Gram!

NOTD 51 There’s no Place Like Chrome

My local Target finally got the Essie Metallics Collection in, wootz! 😀 So up close and personal, next to my skin tone I didn’t like the Gold one that I had on my wish list so I ended up with “No Place Like Chrome” and “Penny Talk”.

I don’t know what I expected with a Metallic collection, but I hate these types of polishes that have those lines and imperfections that you get with Metallic and Pearlized type polishes. Hopefully in my pictures it doesn’t look too bad. I think that these two will end up just being nail art and / or stamping polishes because they were pretty opaque with just one coat.

In any event, my gf Gina gave me a bunch of miscellaneous nail water tattoo/decals. I painted “No Place Like Chrome” and used three different of the lace designs that the water decals came in. Same one on my thumb and middle, same on my ring and pointer and a different one on my pinky.

Here is a picture that is kind of messy but you can see my work in progress.

And then here is the final product
